Help my sister out

Off Topic
  • I went to vote again this morning …and it wouldn't let me. So, am I reading and interpreting this correctly: The voting is over and it appears that your sister is the winner with just under %44 of the votes. Is that the way it works or does a panel still get to decide and just take the votes into consideration?

If she did win: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! and be sure to post the "after" pictures!

It let me vote? I think… but I was reading the rules and it says the winner will be announce April 19th at 5pm... and winner must be present... Looks like it is a some type of garden show?

  • I just voted again this AM & it allowed me. She is now at 44% & Walt is at 39%…it does appear that it ends tonight at 5.

  • Darn it!! Okay…I went back in to the site all over again instead of through the link I saved to "favorites" and it did let me vote again. She is still ahead but I liked it better when I thought she had already won!

  • Hi everyone. thanks so much for taking the time to vote for courtney.
    She did win!!!
We are so excited and her house will look so cute once this is done. She tried to get on here to thank you, but it wouldnt let her register for some reason.
She reads on here all the time and enjoyes reading the funny stories. She has such a funny idea for a thread…post later.
She is going to meet with the landscapers next friday and they are going to find out what she wants and take some pictures and measurements. Then they are going to do some copmuterized layouts and let her pick or change things, and then do it all the first of June or maybe sooner.
    Thanks Again

  • That's WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!

    Pat

  • Yeah! I am so excited for Courtney and you!

You do so many great things for the Basenji community Christy, you deserve some good vibes back your way!

  • Happy we could help ;) Hope you will post pics of the yard once it's finished!

  • Good for her, can't wait to see the finish yard!!!!

  • Has the yard been done yet?

  • I just saw the post that your sister won the yard makeover - post a picture or two when finished.

I once pet sat for a catoo, a parrot, 2 cats, and 2 dogs in one household. Whew, was that a job of work…mostly the birds. Props to anyone who can do that. Mostly the cats only came around for food, my main problem with the dogs was trying to keep their muddy feet off the white carpet...but the birds...oh, the birds. Could hardly get my hand in the cage to get the bowls to feed them their (owner prescribed) fruit, veggies, and even peanut butter. The catoo wasn't bad, it was the parrot that was very territorial about it. I ended up using kitchen mitts to get the bowls out of the cage. I look back on it now and have a good laugh, but at the time those bites from the parrot hurt! But every now and again during that 2 week period the darned thing would just be cute, as would the c**atoo. The owners said I could even let them out of the cage if we (the birds & I) were comfortable enough, and by the end , we were. It was very neat. That whole multi-critter experience ranks right up there with both a major learning experience and an "I'm so verry glad I had it" experiance. PS: the dogs were both German Shepherds.

@BasenjiDiva: Maybe a sheet of plywood to cover the door? (We put our dogs in wire crates when we leave the house and while they tolerate them when we gone, they cry loudly when they know we are around. I don't think we could entertain guests with their dramatics going on. ) While our dogs like and tolerate our little grandsons, there are times I feel like they need to be separated. Then I put high baby gates up to secure the dogs in the kitchen. Is that possible in your home? It is a bit of a hassle for people to go in and out of the kitchen but it is very doable and beats the alternative. And the dogs can see what's going on. Pat We have this problem with Querk too. He is almost never crated, except when we have a big group of people over. What we have done that works is put his crate in a room as far away from the gathering place as possible, and close the door…and let him cry it out. He usually quiets down after he realizes that he is in for the duration of the party. He will start up again if he hears someone. I have been known to put his crate in the van too, if the weather is cooperative.

We are back from the vet and just waking from a long nap. The vet tested his blood cell count and some other test with his blood. He did have some slight damage to some of his blood cells and the red blood cells were already re-forming. She doesn't feel that anything serious will come out of this since he was treated early. I called the Super Supper place where I had picked up my dinner (or maybe I should say Chase's dinner) from and they said that there may have been about 1/2 cup of onions in the mixture.
  • Would changing his food help?

JYS, They only get wet food occasionally. I want to try to add the canned pumpkin to their diet but I keep forgetting to pick it up when I am at the grocery store!
