Well the vet called right around lunch time as I was checking on Kiya. As the vet said "Chance is a NEW man" hahaha
He did fine and was in recovery. I will be picking him up after work this evening and taking him home. He was given an elizabeth collar (by my request).
Kiya is doing well. Her shoulder is a little tender and she is quite tired. She really misses Chance. When I came home she ran all over the house looking for her buddy. Poor girl misses him.
This weekend were going to be keeping a close watch on Chance. Our house is 3 levels of stairs. Poor guy won't be walking much :( -

Topper was sore and pouted for a couple of days, Eddie hardly noticed. He was glued together, the vet just said not to let him lick excessively, he truly didn't slow down for a moment. Hopefully Chance will be like Eddie!

Not the E-Collar. The "No Lick" Elizabeth Collar. It does not actually look like a lamp shade.
The vet tech accidently thought I wanted the E-Collar though and he came out with that darn lampshade. Poor guy. He hated it. He kept slammin his head into the walls to try to take it off. I immediatley took it off. He has been trying to lick himself but im watching him like a hawk. In the morning I will be picking up a no lick collar for the rest of the week.Chance and Kiya are doing well…Kiya could tell that Chance is feeling under the weather. She has been resting next to him. She will wake up at times and lick his ears as if to say she understands. :o

Chance is still a little groggy. He ate a few bites and drank some water. I gave him a couple treats and he ate em right up. I think he will be sleeping the rest of the night….
Not to sound gross...but man oah man....his incision sure looks painful. :eek:
The stitches will disolve on their own so he shouldn't have to go back to the vet unless there is a problem with healing. -
Nicky had the internal stitches, they really didn't look that bad. Healed up real nice and our biggest challenge was keeping him from overdoing since he was like a puppy by the next morning ready to chase Rio all over the house. With Rally's C-section and her spay they used glue.

That's how Querk's was too. No external stitches, just glue on the outside. It didn't even look too swollen.

Yea, all of mine too…. I think they have been doing that for quite a few years now...
Interesting, I have never heard of a E-Collar "no lick"? But then again, I just made my own....

Different thing, I thought the "E-Collar" was the "Elizabethan Collar" and these are the "No Bite" Collars (also called no lick)

Right, the E-Collar is the Elizabethan Collar (we usually just call them E-Collars)… I had never heard of "no lick" Elizabethan Collar. I tried one from the link you posted and could never get it sized right, which is why I figured I could make my own...

I actually have never needed to use one with my Bs (knocking on wood!) I have had cats that required them. But so far (only a couple of surgeries) the dogs haven't bothered their incisions.
Now…orangutans...whoo...I could tell you some horror stories ;) from the wandering mind of a former zookeeper ;)

The only time I used one was for Kristii's liver tumor surgery… when she was split from "stem to stern."... while she didn't lick the incision, she would "worry" about it and lick the inside of her back leg.. which could have turned into a nasty lick sore....
Also I have used Tea Tree Oil around (not on) incisions... just to deter them "if" they thought about licking....

Glad to hear that Chance is doing better. I am sure he will be bounding up and down those stairs in no time!
