    My dogs just chewed up a five dollar bill. Does that increase their value? I wonder if I'll find any change when I clean up the back yard? Does this mean they have expensive taste? :)

    Hey I figured I would keep this thread going. Our delightful beastie decided Sat. that my bed needed a small hole right in the middle of it. Not sure how she does it but she peels the sheets off and goes right for the bed! Than last night she decided to do it again. By husband and I have been talking about getting a new bed but I think we will wait a little while. GRRRRRRRRRR

    We have found we can leave Zip out and about after we've cleaned up and thrown clothes either in the bathroom or the closet and put things on the dining table and pushed in the chairs. And sometimes non-smelly clothes will survive if they're left out by accident. But underwear, socks and the crotch of pants, no way. So my roommate/dp (gender neutral Dh, haha) just had a guest for 10 days. And after Zip chewed up a pair of her pants, shorts and a bag, we realized that we ought to be extra cautious about "things" that have a new smell. Now, this guest carries Coach handbags and the like so when I got the text message "Zip chewed up Becca's bag" I was thinking THE WORST! It turned out to be a $30 dollar bright green and pink canvas bag from TJ MAXX. Whew. Possibly the best (worst?) part is that the guest is sure she had everything zipped up in her suitcase (after losing the pants and the shorts we were careful about cleaning up her stuff). So our darling little rascal (incidentally named Zip) unzipped the suitcase and pulled out the bag from inside. I could be underestimating Zip but I'm a tad skeptical that it was closed closed. Has anyone else's B unzipped a suitcase?!?!? :eek:

    Blaze unzips lunch bags and zips them back up. He's done it to my backpack and also mu dutybag, which has a huge, heavy duty zipper.

    New addition from Duchess's Mom. Yesterday my two B's were doing the Basenji 500 and did a body slam or some such in the bathroom and knocked a hole in the wall at least 10" big. I was shocked. First time ever, I've known that 'run' to cause any damage.

    The worst that mine have done was to strip wall paper… in the laundry room when we moved into the house there were no baseboards, and just drywall and wall paper... so... you can fill in the blanks...gggg

    Oh my!!!!!! Well Im glad Jacks favorite thing is USED Dryer sheets…he just tears them into little pieces...Id rather it be that than my 2000$ mattress!!!!! Id FREAK!! I guess the worst thing he has chewed is his OWN bed...(50$) but he still uses it...his loss i guess he did it to himself! aaaaaaand...when we FIRST got him, he ripped up on of my husband Geoffs Navy uniform sock...lol...random!!

    HA- Jack is a freak about toilet paper too. Our guests think we are crazy because we ask each one of them, as they return from the bathroom- did you close the door?

    But the best was when we had a guest visiting, and apparently her purse was not far enough back on the table. Jack pulled it down, pulled out a bottle of pills and proceeded to chew through the bottle.

    We got really worried, and there were three of us crawling around on the floor counting out these antibiotics, trying to figure out if he swallowed any. Nope, apparently, he chewed open the bottle, dumped out the contents, and proceeded to rip the bottle to shreds.

    He does the same thing with cigarettes, he will pull every cigarette out and put them in a little pile, sit on them, and destroy the box.

    My husband left a bottle of Tylenol one night on the bedside table, same thing happened to us! We went in and there was the bottle chewed up with pills everywhere! Trixie did not eat any of them!

    If the dogs are having similar symptoms as in the previous years, they need to be treated ASAP! It is my understanding that many are developing the acquired Fanconi Syndrome and need to be put on the protocol. Many vets though do not have the equipment to do the venous blood gas test and get an accurate diagnosis. Emergency vets should have the equipment. Do not buy any dog treats that come from China and if the package does not state where it is from then do not buy it! Jennifer

    If you ship him underneath in cargo, don't forget there are temperature restrictions. Where would you transfer planes at? This summer has been hot in many cities! Please check the requirements for the airline you will be traveling on. There is usually a limit to the number of dogs allowed on board and in cargo. You will need to make a reservation for him at the time you make your own. There may be additional requirements since you are coming from Canada, you will need to check with the USDA, the CDC and the State of Massachusetts. You can find the requirements on the USDA website and it has links to each state. http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_welfare/pet_travel/pet_travel.shtml You need to make sure the carrier will fit under the seat so if the carrier you are considering is much larger than the large size Sherpa brand bag I doubt it will fit under the seat. I used to travel with Arnie onboard about 10 years ago before 9/11. I trained him to get in and out of the Sherpa bag and to stay in for short periods of time. He almost always laid down in it. He never made noise even when we were in first class and they served food! Most people did not even know I had a dog. I also made sure I was comfortable carrying him in the bag. I figured if the airline employees thought I was struggling with him then he was too heavy and he would not be let on the plane. He was an older pup but weighed about 18-20 lbs. Jennifer

    We have one of those spray heads on our shower that you can take off and use by hand. I get the water nice and warm, and even though Samantha isn't excited to jump in the tub, she's so good to just stand there and relax while I lather her up with doggie shampoo and rinse her off. I used to have to wrestle with my other B's to get them clean! I guess the old German saying: "All good things come in threes" is really true!

    The only sweat glands on a dog are on the feet. They keep their foot pads supple, but also sent mark the trail. I actually like the way goober smells.     Hollie will hide her treats and her dog food. Her favorite hiding place is under MY pillow in the bed. She has tried to hide her entire food bowl by pushing one of her plush toys with her nose in an attempt to get the toy on top of her food bowl. Why doesn't she just use her mouth to pick it up and place it on the bowl? Silly dog!

    Yes I agree Pat, Fort Funston could get very crowded and dangerous for smaller dogs as packs of bigger dogs playing could cause injury. My 2 Basenjis were very good and stayed pretty close to me and got used to the crowds. The only problem I had there was with this lady who had an older Tri color female Basenji. It would bite my blk/wht, Nika who was 1-1/2 on the butt. A few times of that and I stayed way away from her. The problem is Nika was a very playful girl and never did anything like that. A few times of getting nipped on the butt started her doing it to other dogs and Basenjis. A Basenji would want to play and Nika would chase and give a nip and the the other dog would get mad and a fight would occur. Nobody would ever get hurt thankfully. It was rare that it would happen as I took them there for 9 years, mostly on the weekend without problem. We had a lot of fun and people loved the Basenjis! Ringo, the red/wht was a very entertaining clown when we'd go down to the beach.
