• Voting would seem to work best. Most people would be happy then.

  • @lvoss:

I would be in support of a calendar where the proceeds are donated to the Basenji Health Endowment. If members of the forum are interested, we can research printing costs and have a photo contest to select which photos will be used.

    Me too!!!

Okay…that apparently is too short to be a message!

  • @admin:

    Great Ideas!

Please private message us with any type of ideas for commercial or non-profit activities associated with Basenji Forums community.

We are currently working on setting up a store where you could purchase Basenji Forums related merchandise including photo calendars and tshirts.

    Thank you,

    Fun, fun, fun!

  • You know you could actually put more than 1 photo per month. If someone took a few photos for each month & made it into a college then you could easily include 4-5 even 6 photos on every month vs. just 1. This would be nice since there are so many members & so many beautiful doggies & I'm sure most individuals would want to see their B in the calendar!

We only want your deep thoughts.:D 😃

  • @renaultf1:

I think BCOA is doing a calendar for 2009…pretty sure I read that on their website...the theme is puppy pics and the deadline is end of March.

Pat, seeing as you are a board member...do you know where the proceeds from that will go or could you find out?

The proceeds for that will go to fund the 2008 National Specialty, I think.

That is true and any extra will go into the BCOA general fund.

  • Perhaps a theme for each month with 4-6 photos selected to make the collage for the month?

  • @lvoss:

I was thinking the same thing. Like December we could pic 4-6 pictures of basenjis in the snow or in their winter coats. Maybe July we could try to find 4-6 with dogs in the water? Etc etc.

  • Also it should be limited to one picture per person. It would also sell better the more people here can contribute. All should be welcome. There are a lot of great photos here, it will be tough to choose.

    Criteria should be-

I believe you need high resolution pictures for printing so some people's pictures may not work, quality wise. I think it's 300 DPI & up?

Pictures should be in focus to best degree.

Voting on polls for each month is a great idea. People can submit pictures in a thread, those culled into a voting poll thread sticky.

I don't think it should be limited to one per person…maybe three or so. But I know there are some folks who have SOME awesome pics, and I would hate to have them limited to just one.

Uh, at this point in the afternoon, I have NO deep thoughts 😉

  • We will create a calendar photo voting poll/thread shortly. Thank you everyone for your suggestions and ideas. Keep them coming.

The proceeds from all sales will help pay for the costs associated with running Basenji Forums and the rest will be devided equally between BRAT and Basenji Health Endowment.

  • I think it would be fun if we nominate photos that are not our own. Maybe everyone submits a photo or number of photos.

That's what we were thinking too, nominate any photos from Basenji Forums or your own gallery for each month. We will then contact the owner of the photo so they can release it to us.

Will the proceeds still go to the Health Endowment?

  • @Barklessdog:

That is correct…300dpi & up for the resolution for print...

However, if you have photos that are 72dpi and measure big, those would work as well. For instance a 72dpi image that measures 36w x 42h can be resized to 8 x 10 300dpi.

If you guys can decide the final measurement of each pic as it will appear in the calendar, I can tell you what size they need to be if they are 72dpi.

Great idea. I can already think of about 10 pictures I would nominate.

I would order at least three depending on how much they cost.

I hope everyone has a Paypal account?

BRAT has a lot of their own fundraising efforts whereas the BHE has no ongoing fundraising project. I personally would be far more likely to buy something that was going to support the BHE then something where the proceeds were going to be split. I also think saying help pay for costs is nebulous because that means there is no garuntee that any money will be donated to the specified non-profits.
