Running away from the Escapee…

Lenny actually escaped from a fenced yard yesteday for the first time… scared me to DEATH. Once when I first got him ( he was about 15 weeks old) we were outside w/ leashes and the clip on his collar snapped and he was free. Instead of running after him, I got his attention (miracle) and ran as fast as I could away from him and into the house. He thought I was playing and chased after me. I did the same thing yesterday. He was out of the fence and running around sniffing things and when I got his attention (from about 100 feet away, I did a sort of "human play bow" and then sprinted into the yard. Luckily he chased after me. (Beat me into the yard too... the little monster) .
WHEW! and then my heart started beating again.
Anyway, just wanted to share that technique. It has worked for me the 2 times I've needed it. Get their attention, and then run in the other direction...

LOL,,,,,,,I did the same thing one time when I was riding a bike with Bella on a leash beside me. She got loose and instead of my initial reaction to freak I just started peddling as fast as I could to the house and she followed me right into the garage! Score – Basenji 5,231,498

LOL, totally… although I think I have 2 points from when I tricked them into sleeping in their crate by putting it on top of the heater.

My mom found that falling down and screaming in pain also gets them back when hers was running away from her and she tripped on a partially buried rock and broke her toe. The dog was back in a flash very worried about her.

I did the same thing with Ruby, the one time she got free when I was walking her and I fell. Worked like a charm :D. It always feels good to outsmart her :D.
