The world show in Stockholm 2008

Basenji Showing
  • Yes, I know- they arrange all for me:) But I wont call to Loango because they have many problems etc. Could You tell me how they will be judge best joddler? And I heard about track racing or lure coursing championships. Thats true?

  • The best yoddler well first of all you have to get your basenji to yoddle on command and then the judge listens and chooses who he/she thinks is the best sounding I suppose.Lure Coursing championships are inofficial in sweden as the sighthound club hasn´t given us the right to get the official champion title but it Finland you can get the title. But atleast we´re glad that we´re alouded to use the lure track.

  • Huh- how can I learn singing my basenji… He sings only when I go to a shop and he stays allone, near the shop:D

  • Hahhaaa this is an informal and fun competiton but you can compete for the best wrinkles, best paws, best tail curl, best black/white or best basenji expression, best ears etc….they charge 2-3 euro per class so it´s more of a fun thing and to bring money into the club;)

  • YEs- I know;) It will be very funny show:D And all basenjis will be dividen on colours?

  • The basenjis will be divided into the 4 colours at the colour match show which is judged by Christian Joanchicot from the Out Of Africa Kennels in France. But also in the fun show they will choose the best in each group of colours.

  • Where I find all prices for entries? On www.basenji.se is price only for Colour Match.. And I know how much is WDS

  • I think the fun matches you pay when you get there

  • "Sat june 28th KC show CC (CAC) in Borås
Sun june 29th Speciality show CC(CAC)judge: TBA in Vadstena
Mon june 30th African Match judge: Peter Broadbent, Eng. in Vadstena
Saturday july 5 Circuit Show CC(CAC) judgeamara Bolte (Reveille Basenjis),US in Almare Stäket (The Horse Polo Club)just outside Stockholm."

I want to know about it:D

  • The KC show in Borås is a regularswedish kennel club show so you have to look it up how much it´s in euros when you send you´re application to the Kennel Club.
The speciality you will have to send your application online to the basenji club same with african match but does your dog have avongara blood in it for the african match? The circuit show is arranged by the swedish kennel club.
So I suggest you go and check www.skk.se for the kennel club shows just click on the english flag and you´ll get all the info and regulations in english.
As for the basenji club I do not know the price in euros so I suggest you send a mail to Elisabeth Wennerbo as it´s she who handles the applications her e-mail is bettan@basenji.se she can give you the correct info for people from abroad.

    Good Luck,Michelle

  • That´s correct the fun matches are paid when you get there:D

  • I really hope that I am able to go with Tiggy, it sounds like so much fun

I have experimented with several different types. My favourite by far is a lambs leather half choke all in one. I feel I have enough control and they can't easily escape from them either!

re: "A sanctioned match is important though, I believe new clubs must hold a certain amount of matches in a certain time frame before they're allowed to hold regular dog shows. Sorta like a trial run to make sure the club can do everything needed to run the event and take care of paperwork appropriately. Also already established clubs will hold matches in the evening after the show, and I have a feeling they are a good money maker for the club since they already have all the equipment and everything taken care of for the weekend." This is partly true - a club however in order to maintain it's status as a show giving club has to complete a certain number of components in a given year - a match can be one of them. Do some do it for money - maybe - but I'll tell you from experience that at the end of a show - about the last thing a show giving club is thinking about it's doing more work! we're typically too tired!!!!! In any event a match is good practice for the dogs, the judges and a great way to get your feet wet. You will have a blast.

He has a good hand with dog?s and is extremely knowledgeble he with several of the swedish kennel club have put their foot down when it comes to breeds that have gone to far like the Basset Hound,Mastino Napoletano etc… So our judges have now gotten order not to award these extreme bred dog?s so that the breeders will start to breed back to more sound looking dog?s.So far we have avoided any silly trends with the Basenji although a whippet kinda dog has been trying to emerge in to the show circuit hopefully that won?t be a success. One dog that I really like she has such a basenji expression is Fula Of The Congo dead but not forgotten:)

Ok on the 18th is Myrans debute puppy class in a KC show everything has gone so far by the plan he´s very good when I stack him can stand still for ages.Gaiting is well ok as long as I don´t run too fast yes folks I run hurts but hey i´m stubborn. But is it because he´s still young (8 months)that he starts plowing when I go too fast and when I slow down the trot looks good according to onlookers??
