Made it through the Dinner, but… *PICS Added*

  • LMAO the cake didn't.

Tiggy didn't once put feet on the table with all the food. And was a perfect while everyone ate. He even spit out the turkey leg (whole leg) I knocked on the floor as I tried to pull the meat off to put it away.

Then we cleared the table and set out the cake and pies. Didn't touch it until my husband went to cut it but forgot to grab something from the kitchen came back right as Tiggy was taking a bite out of the cake. I'll have to get a pick, Dave tried to get him to spit out out because it is a red velvet cake, but nope it was down the hatch, lol, it wasn't a big bite and it was more frosting so I'm not worried about it hurting him.

It cracks me up, ignored it all but the cake.

  • Here's the pictures

I rotated one so you could see it how it looked before Dave decided he'd eat that piece any way

  • Hee, hee…..

  • I've seen, but never tasted, red velvet cake. Looks like everyone got a chance to enjoy it, despite Tiggy!

Magnum was unbelievably well behaved during our Thanksgiving. Even my DH commented on it. I didn't even have to kennel him during dinner. I was so proud of him!

I won't be able to make the dinner (and most likely won't attend the National at all due to home issues). So take plenty of pics and regale us with all sorts of stories…and have fun! Oh, and please post results as they are available. More than likely if can make it at all, I'd arrive on Friday and fly out late Sunday. Liyah isn't entered in Sweeps, so I don't need to kill myself to get there on Thursday.

@myran: Thh only thing you have to keep in mind that girls go into heat which can be a hassle whining male having to guard and often separate them during the critical period. I have several basenji friends that have 2 even 5 boy´s and it works as they are of different ages puppies are integrated in to the pack when they are less then 12 weeks. But it takes a strong leader males rarely fight to kill more to show who´s the leader and when the other gives up they calm down not so with females they can be really nasty. Are you going to show them and maybe in the future breed then yes a girl but if not i´d choose a boy as it´s cheaper to neuter a boy then sterilize a girl.Especially as you have to let her have one heat before surgery maybe it´s different over there. And as I said before you can have boy´s together that aren´t neutered. But as they´ve mentioned before go with your breeders recommendations. Good Luck,Michelle In the US, price is usually the same for a spay as it is for a neuter…. and usually people opt to spay before the first season in the US.

I would have to agree with the others. Surgery is pretty tricky especially if the dog is on meds. Some medication is mood altering. If you could possibly wait at least a week to bring in the new dog that would be ideal. Males usually recover pretty quickly and are back to normal within a week. This will give your pooch some much needed rest & healing time. To introduce the dog I would have them meet in neutral territory some sniffing & such & afterwards I would take a nice long long long walk around your neighborhood…like 2hours at least. Let them get used to being together with you on your walks. I would even make it a routine for a while until they get used to the pack order. I would also suggest RULES from Day #1. Establish the rules of the house so both dogs understand that you're the boss & these are the rules...My rules I don't allow the dogs to hoover while I make their meals. They have to be sitting calmly until I'm done. They eat in separate crates & before I put their dish down they must sit & give me eye contact. I do the same for treats and toys...everything is given only if they sit calmly & give eye contact. There's no jumping on me EVER...if they do this they get my back which they hate because they love mom's attention :) Good luck to you :)

@felakuti: I wonder where the light golden eyes come from…our brindle is from the african project, cayote? jackel? There are a number of different basenji lines that have "light" eyes, both domestic and from the Af project, but the standard for all basenjis is dark eye

Is this Nick Russell of MastersPride? If so, we have a leather collar that does not slip down the neck and works well with them pulling. I put it high on the neck and Talker and Savannah will stop. But these collars that you posted the pixs looks really nice. Do you have the website?
