My Valentino had terrible dandruff. His vet said it was due to dry skin. She had me add Goat's milk and coconut oil to his diet. His dandruff lessened dramatically after about a month. The amount of coconut oil (solid or liquid) per day should be no more than 1 teaspoon per 10lbs of body weight. Valentino is about 27 lbs. so I give him about 2.5-3 teaspoons a day. I divide the amount in half and add it too his meals. I feed goat milk rarely because it is so high in calories.
Who has the largest Basenji
-
This is Max and Jasper, just took the picture. We just had Max on the scale, he's 35 lbs. Measures 19.5 at shoulder. Jasper is 22 lbs. Cleo is big for a bitch, I'm guessing 26 to 28 lbs.
Max is in the middle of a coat change…..note the hair on the sides of his head. He looks really funny, we've been calling him Bozo.

That is a great photo…really shows the difference between the two...and the all look JUST thrilled to be thrust into the camera!
I love the one peeking in from the window...'hey watcha doin' in there'
-
Do B mixes count? Hollie weighs in around 35 lbs.
-
Wow, Max is huge!
I have seen a lot a fairly small basenji's at dog shows too. One had smaller ears, not the radar dishes they carry now!
No offense (mine has them too)
the brindle pictured looks to have smaller ears?

Yeah, Max can can double as a tv sat dish.:D

That's Max's half sister Penny, she's a big gal too…...26lbs and not an ounce of fat.
-
Both are great looking dogs. Max looks really lovable!
Do judges frown on larger dogs or do they just judge how they are put together and move?
-

Well, in his defense, the way he is holding them at half mast makes the ears look even bigger.

Max is way off breed standard because of size, we never showed him. You could show him, I don't know how successful you'd be.

Oh my, what cutie.

This is Max's dad you can check the pedigree. Max's litter is listed several down the line, he is registered Timar's glittering image. Notice his brother is a Canadian champion, he's a big B too, not as big as Max.

BasenjiBoy- I can't believe Max is going to beat out Miles!! Miles is 32.5lbs!! Dang… I thought we had you beat!! Miles has put added 10% of his body weight since we rescued him. I still think he could stand to add another pound or two. You can still see his ribs when he moves- but he's at a good weight now. No fat, that's for sure.
Lexi's still small at 18lbs.
-
Yeah they are both big boys, I bet they're close.;)
-
We will have to have a get-together to compare!!

We'd be thrilled!:) I'd love to see you all again.
It would be interesting to see if he'd remember us or maybe this place.;)

By the way, a good judge of weight is to be able to see the ribs when they move… obviously not sticking out... but you should be able to see them
-
I will have to try and find Mickii's baby pictures… we used to call her the elephant ear basenji... gggg.....
-
I think that's a good pic to see the size difference between Lexi and Miles. Miles is just a solid, good looking boy. I don't know if he fits the standard, but IMO, he should be THE standard… hheheheheheheAnd one of my favs... (even though his coat was still recovering here)
