It is difficult to tell a tri Rat Terrier from a tri Basenji in some of the shelter photos. I have to ask does it have a tail and what type!

While my Hollie is a brindle, I really love the look of the b & w. They are all striking creatures!!!
I like the exotic look of the brindles.
I like the formal flashy look of the b/w and Tri.
I always ask people which of ours they are most impressed with and most have said the big R/W Max. To me the reds look like little deer.
I have really fallen in love with our b/w's for their personality…....they just seem more needy or dependant on us than the others.
I agree the R/W look like deer & very cute (especially mine :D)..but the brindle are very cute (espeically mine hee :D) but I have to say that the B/W I find them stunning…not sure why and initially they were not my fav.

Could be threads like this?

I was like you that B/W was not my favorite as the B/W's I had seen were not that great looking till recently when I saw the above thread and this dog here-

Also what's weird is she has ONLY two males!
@I:
Funny, but you dont have Squiggy :p
Isnt it great that we all think ours is the best, cutest… That just proves that basenjis as a whole are the best dogs around!
However, when I went home for lunch and saw my bolster pillows on my sitting room bed all shredded, I would have easily given him to you:D
I think I would love to have one of each color!
How can you not love a Tri?….
Sahara is my favorite color, and of course she is R & W, but I must say that B & W are my second fav. Arti is the most handsome B & W I have seen followed by Jasper of Basenji Park. If I were to have another B it would be Black and White if I could resist another Sahara, haha!!!!!!!!!! You gotta love these dogs b/c they sure can destroy your stuff, Sahara has that's for sure. I found chew marks this week on my wood daybed in my guest room, I have chew marks everywhere. I use bitter apple but it has not worked, any suggestions?
I love all the colors pretty equally…but if I *had to choose a favorite, I think I would choose tri, with a small white blaze
I love-love-love the red and whites by far, with white wiskers. I think with the lighter brighter color of the red you can see more details of the dog like wrinkles, muscles, things like that (especially in photos). Alote of white on the body is cool too. I like the basenji's that have more white than they are supposed to. Tri's are my second fav.Although B&W's look very shiney in the sun not really into that color.I always hear that black dogs at the shelters are really hard to adopt out because to most people the light bright or unique colors (blues) stand out. All the colors are pretty neat though, as long as its a basenji the dog is A-O-K in my book! As far as brindle I'm usually not into that with the exception of "one" that I met along time ago it was a deep red with thin neat SOLID black stripes on the back all separated and parallel to each other. So pretty! I guess I just really like the red and white because they are traditional and I have read that you see them the most in Africa!
Black and white is the color I was first attracted to and is my favorite but I have come to really like all the colors.
Arti is the most handsome B & W I have seen followed by Jasper of Basenji Park.
Youngandtired-actually Jasper is a brindle…it's Willy that's the GORGEOUS b/w
Cute! I love this picture!
That is Mickii with her impression of "stickem up"…. and her grand daughter will do the same thing!

Love that picture!! So adorable!!
Okay, I was hesitant to reply to this thread (other than to compliment all of your dogs!), but I guess I will weigh in:
I have always loved the R/Ws - I "ordered" one (LOL), but the one bitch didn't take and there were only R/W males. That's how we ended up with Nala, our beautiful tri.
I have to say that now, since joining this forum, I really could not decide which color I like best. They are all beautiful and each dog is unique and special with their own personalities and personally, I'd take them all!!!
Seems judges favor Reds from my experience.
No one talks about Trindles?
That's one combination I really do not like (sorry if someone here has one)
you going to have to show me some fantastic ones!

go here to see a fabulous trindle…if it doesn't take you directly to his page go to "Tazi" on the scroll bar on the left.
I don't mind trindles...I have seen some great ones. I think if the stripes aren't REALLY clearly defined in the tan, it just looks kinda murky...so that detracts from the look.
Sophie's sire is a trindle and I think he is quite handsome. A real sweetheart too.
