Oh!! I LOVE the running around in the undies years!!!
I miss that; such a sweet time of life.

    Oh, and Ariel is beautiful,too!

  • I don't have any photos of Keoki as a little tiny boy because we got him at about 3 mos, but here's one from that age and three from now, just about six months
    {IF I link them correctly! No matter how many times I do this, I always forgot how}

    Keoki, about 3 mos

    Keoki, six months, THE FACE

Aww - too adorable. Looks like they both like playing ball. Ariel definately has a serious look on her face, even though she's still a puppy. She IS interesting and rare looking that goes along with her ancestors. How cool. Her brindle coat does it for me. ;)

  • Stunning.

And very cool how you've "disappeared" from the photo on the table!

  • Zahra at 3 Months the night we brought her home, I don't think Chase was too happy at first now they are inseperable

I think the rabies tag was weighing her little neck down! LOL!

I think she may have been about 9 months here

Zahra at 1 Year 4 months

  • Adorable Pics!!!

  • i love cute little puppies

  • The first one is abby at 3 months that's when I first got her.

The next one is in Feb she was 8 months.

The last two are current just took them 5 minutes ago and she is not quite 13 months. I am kind of concerned about her size though, I weighed her a couple of days ago and she only weighs 17.5 lbs, when I see all the other pics on here everybodies dog looks bigger than her. Even her parents which I have pictures of look bigger. The other dog is Missy our mixed breed, mixed with what we are not sure. Lab and ? look at her tail maybe a little B in there somewhere?

  • Hello all. I regret to say, I do not have any baby pics of Metinga as we got her when she was 5yrs old. I did have some pics of her that we posted on the "Basenji Magazine" on the photo gallery but that website does not seem to exist anymore. So I can not retrieve them.

However, Helix I do happen to have baby pics of thanks to his puppy raiser and the PADS website (we got him exactly one year ago this week).

I hope this works(I will be guessing at the time frames):
    1. Helix at I think about 3mths of age
    2.Helix at about age 4-5mths

Will have to post 2 current ones in next message but have to try to resize them so the file will fit.

  • Wow, the 7month olds look defined where my Cairo now looks chubby?

How much are your 7month olds eating now?

  • Again, Keoki is only 6.5 mos, but he eats 3/4 cup of Puppy chow twice a day, so 1.5 cups a day.

  • Awww everyone your babies are so cute!!!

  • Not sure if I will succesfully post a pic but here is my girl at almost 7 months old. (if this works) This is a new computer so I don't have the puppy pics on here anymore.

@dagodingo - Note that if flying, most airlines have age limits and when I fly American (in cabin) age must be 10wks.

If you have an adult dog in the household, it will save you a lot of grief. The adults will usually put manners on the pup. I have yet to hear an adult "yelp", but sure have seen them snarl and pin the little so-and-so down momentarily, and when released the pup is usually a bit chastened and leaves the adult alone for awhile. Some need more convincing than others! Lady used to snarl in Tamu's face while holding her down, and watching her is what started me using the "bear hug" (minus the snarling) to correct this behaviour.

From what I've seen (well bred) basenji puppies range from $900-$1500 depending on show quality. Like Krunzer said, puppies are cute but are A LOT of work. I've raised 2 basenjis and 2 goldens and while a lot of it is the same.. the basenjis seem to discover new ways to be mischievous that my goldens would never have dreamed of doing. Be prepared to replace many MANY things because odds are they will destroy them! Elliot isn't a climber but my last one was so even things high up on tables and counters were not safe from him. My current B is 10 months and going though the "I forgot every good behavior you taught me" phase. This includes trying to jump off the table at shows to play with the other dogs and the judge @______@. Now that I've strayed away from the topic.. A BRAT, rescue or retired show dog might be the best fit for you! I know of several breeders who will sell their retired show dogs because they simply can't keep them all. Before I got my first B I looked into purchasing a finished champion to learn how to show dogs with but ended up with a puppy.

My sister is also a nurse. She used to organize flu clinics, and one thing that was mandated was that there was a loaded syringe of epinephrine handy. I hear you about the cost of office visits! My horse vet will come to the farm and wrestle with 3 horses floating teeth, give a couple of shots to each, and the bill is less than my Basenji's routine office visit!!! Ridiculous!

@myran: Thh only thing you have to keep in mind that girls go into heat which can be a hassle whining male having to guard and often separate them during the critical period. I have several basenji friends that have 2 even 5 boy´s and it works as they are of different ages puppies are integrated in to the pack when they are less then 12 weeks. But it takes a strong leader males rarely fight to kill more to show who´s the leader and when the other gives up they calm down not so with females they can be really nasty. Are you going to show them and maybe in the future breed then yes a girl but if not i´d choose a boy as it´s cheaper to neuter a boy then sterilize a girl.Especially as you have to let her have one heat before surgery maybe it´s different over there. And as I said before you can have boy´s together that aren´t neutered. But as they´ve mentioned before go with your breeders recommendations. Good Luck,Michelle In the US, price is usually the same for a spay as it is for a neuter…. and usually people opt to spay before the first season in the US.
