  • Hi all,

My name is Danni and my husband and I are from Cape Town, South Africa.

We have been carefully considering getting a Basenji for about 2 years now, learning all we could about the breed, the history and the antics that they bring into their homes :)

Throughout our research, we have found that there are no KUSA (Kennel Union of South Africa) registered breeders for Basenji at all, and none that we have found in North, West or East Africa either.

I've joined this forum to ensure that when we do get our puppy next year, that we have a good place to ask advice, share stories and generally have a Basenji mad community to relate too!

  • Please see my previous message and also my response to your direct email to me about this.

@alay Google Northern Basenji Society. On the website you will find contact email addresses. Nothing available for this year now but you might find a breeder and get onto a waiting list for 2022

My heart breaks reading your wonderful story of Dinah - it is so clear she is a huge part of your heart -you will have such wonderful memories of her when it is her time to give up the pain. I also do not believe dogs don't have souls - of course they do - the unconditional love they give, the way they try to help when you are emotionally suffering, the joy they get when they see you coming after a separation - all these and more are proof they are very soulful. A loving companion dog is God's gift. All our hearts are with you, and our tears flow with yours. God bless.

Bungwa has a very dry mouth and I only managed to get a very tiny white patch on the test card but it was still sufficient to do the test with that. It only turns white when it's dry - the instructions are quite explicit. Of course as Pat says it could be a bad test form.
