CBD for Pet....

  • There are some instances that I believed that marijuana doesn't give us a good benefit. I came across this article [404 error] saying that CBD can be a useful as a medicine. My pet Goldie (Labrador) was suffering from mast cell tumors a form of skin cancer. And i don't know how he will be cured then one of my friends told me to use CBD for him. I don't know if it really works? Any suggestion for this?

  • There is little data or studies regarding Medical Marijauna used in Animals for an alternative modality for treatment of any kind. One Article is simply not enough. I have considered trying the CBD Cream for my Back pain. There have been many studies regarding Medical Marijauna for treating Auto-Immune Diseases such as MS. One Vendor is 'Charlotte's Web' and their products are legal in all of the 50 states.

I would not treat my Dog with Cancer with this stuff because it is a topical and we do not know if applying it to the Dog's skin will irritate the Cancer.

Good luck and you may try feeding your Dog Vegtarian Dog Food because animal flesh and Fish encourages the growth of Cancer. My Antigone had a Carcinoma when she was 12. I had it removed and changed her diet to a Vegetarian and she lived to be 16 years old.

Diet in my experience is the best way to manage a Dog or Cat with Cancer.

    Good luck!

  • Diet for an animal is certainly good, but what about the pain that a dog experiences when it has cancer, medications can also cause severe harm to health in a large dose, and so I would still test the possibilities of CBD products for the treatment of pain syndromes in dogs. Okay, so you have a few options. The best is training him to go where you want. 1. Take some of his poop and put it further in where you want him to go. 2. Match stick him. 3. Spray the area with tick and flea spray. 4. Add some olive oil or, honest, catlax (the stuff they use for hair balls) to his food so he has a bit looser stool or ask your vet for stool softeners for dogs. I'd call my vet tech partner but she is in India with her husband. But I can guarantee you that human laxatives are a no. Plus, you can't keep using any of them or risk habit forming. http://www.vetinfo.com/dog-laxative-guide.html

@smharr4: I also have a Care Credit card (http://www.carecredit.com/) which will allow me to pay the bill at the vet immediately, then I can just transfer the money between bank accounts (which takes a few days) so the Care Credit card is payed off before any interest accrues. At least one of our local vets also has a 'promissory note' payment scheme where you pay half when you pick up your pet then spreads the rest out over 3-4 months, that can come in handy too sometimes. Thanks for the tip. I will ask my vet if he has any 'promissory note' scheme. That sounds good, and…yes it would come in handy!

We use PetCare Insurance & considering how many times I've been to the Vet this year with one dog alone  I think it's SO worth it :) I also think that if (heavens forbid) your dog ever got into a serious injury that required surgery or long term care that would be insanely expensive. And most people would opt not to go through with it at the risk of losing their beloved dog. Like most insurance policies you're paying a premium for the potential possibilities that you'll need it one day…life insurance (I've been paying forever & every year I neve cash in LOL :D), medical insurance, homeowners insurance...etc.
