I am pretty sure you can't just look at a mix and declare what it is. Scientific studies have debunked that over and over. Best to do a DNA test, in my opinion. I have a mix who was advertised as a Basenji Mix, and her DNA results confirmed it. If you just looked at her and made a judgement, it would be mixed: her color was all askew, her tail was half-curled, she was smaller and featured more slender face and feet than a pure-bred B.
But, apparently, the 1/4 Min Pin (the ONLY other DNA in her sample) contributed some significant traits. Behavior and personality wise, Basenji rules the day. Again, I recommend a DNA test, and they improve by the day.
What is this other B identity thing that is mentioned in this thread? Is it also a DNA test, or something else?
Oh, and hey, your baby is way cute!
Meet Yoda Possible basenji?
-
Yoda is a rescue dog from spain and we think he may be part basenji, what do you guys think?
-
He looks basenji-ish to me. Obviously no way to know with DNA testing, but he is beautiful.
What kind of sounds does he do?
-
He's silent, doesn't make much noise at all and doesn't really pay interest in humans.
-
Certainly has some Basenji characteristics. Would love to see more pictures, particularly taken from the side. How big is he?
-
His head looks more like a pharoah hound - how tall is he?
-
I agree with wizard, Pharoah type hound
-
Here is a photo of my girlfriend holding him so you can get the perspective of his size
-
Oh, he's quite a bit bigger than I first thought. Perhaps pharoah hound is the most likely, colour fits too.
-
Perhaps also Podenco Andaluz in there - they have that color and the pointy ears. Great smile!
-
Gosh yeah at that size, I'd suggest Pharaoh hound over basenji.
-
@kjdonkers he is actually from spain so that makes sense and looks that size! He is far too small to be a pharoah hound - his legs are quite short
-
Yes I agree, Podenco Andaluz more likely. Size, color, from Spain.
Here's a picture I found on the internet:

This post is deleted! -
Yes I am Infact from England , and yoda is from Spain.
-
There are lots of charities in Europe taking care of Spanish dogs, as they are treated pretty badly - especially the hunting breeds (sighthounds), like podenco (comes in all sizes and colors) and galgo (a little smaller than a greyhound).
-
AH I missed that. Then yep, the others are probably right!

Could have some Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless dog) ???
