Basenji Boy from Russia is looking for a litter

Breeder Talk
  • Hi All,

I've just moved in SF from Moscow, Russia. I have a Basenji boy of 5 years old. He is the champion of a few European countries - I surely can provide more details if needed. I am not sure about this process here in the US, but I would be very happy to get in touch with any interested breeder of female Basenji to get a litter - just to make my boy happy. We've done this once back in Russia and got 5 healthy and happy puppies delievered. I am attaching a couple of photos. Thanks!

    Maria.

Best you can hope for now is to get onto a list for this winter but all the breeders have had full lists now for some time. You may find you have to wait for next winter. Demand this year is through the roof - we are weeding things out as much as possible. Email me privately - addresses are on the websites listed in my signature block.

I agree that cost is not necessarily indicative of the quality of a dog but rather it does reflect the time, energy and costs of producing litters. I find with my own, any way, that there is a terrific saving on veterinary costs as I find that in my experience in general Basenjis are a very healthy breed and trips to the vets in between puppyhood and old age.are minma compared to many breeds. Before anybody comments, I do appreciate that some do seem to have many health problems but overall I think that it is probably quite a small portion..

Everyone pretty much already covered what I was going to say :) I spoke with Toni before I got my boy because I am from Maryland. I ended up going with a breeder in Florida because at the time, that's where I was living. If I were to get another basenji pup though, I would definitely go to Toni. She was so great at answering any/all of my questions & also was very forthcoming about information regarding her dogs & her home. She offered, more than once, for me to come see her dogs while I was back in Maryland for vacation last winter.

Thank you guys so much for the information. I will definately write it as you said. Maybe he will then stop being so ugly. I know that there is no way he will let me or anyone that knows me have her. All I know is I paid him back for the dog, paid to fly it to them and now I get to be rimmed out on the phone, emails, etc. I just love hearing what an irresponsible breeder I am and how much I abused the dog. It just makes me fighting mad to be accused of such things. I love my dogs so much and they live better than I do it seems… Thanks again, you guys are the best.

I think a sticky with the above info would save some hurt feelings. We have a wonderful wealth of info re dogs, breeding and health on this forum. It needs to be shared. IMO.
