Fable

  • He is such a handsome boy and looks like he knows it too!

  • Yay another red boy with no white collar, also love the window seat where he is paying full attention to whoever is behind the camera, did you just call him or did you say rabbit or dinner to get his attention. He is very cute, can I ask what his height and weight is at 18months.

  • Loove Fable <3

  • Beautiful, really love the look about him!

  • @agilebasenji:

Oh he's lovely. What's his breeding?

And tell me more about the not-so-trying basenji in that last pic. Did you make it? it's very cute

Here's a 6 gen pedigree on my (neglected) blog, along with pics of his sire, dam & granddam. He looks a lot like his dam especially in the face. He acts very much like her too, sweet and goofy. The "not-so-trying" basenji as you put it, is made out of paper clay. I do a lot of sculpture, mostly dogs. I'll have to post some stuff later. If anyone here was at last years national, I split a table and sold several smaller clay 'senjis and donated one to the auction.

I probably asked him if he was cute- he usually perks up and tilts his head if you ask him a question lol. He's ended up a pretty average height for boys around here, 17 1/2", and should weigh around 28-30 lbs but he's skinny atm. His dam is 16", sire is taller then he is- 18" or so(not %100 sure).

  • He's beautiful ! He has a funny expression eheh

  • I nearly spit my coffee at the last one! LOVE the expression on your lovely boy and was deep into admiration, then the "companion" picture! LOL.

  • What a handsome guy :)

  • First Basenji's

He is such a stud! I love how gorgeous his red is!

  • He's a great looking boy, looks like he and our Mr Baroo are from the same roots. Dont you love that totally red head.

  • I do love it when they don't have much white, especially on the face. He was the least marked pup in the litter so he got called "Blankey".

It was in the 90's here the past two days, so yesterday we went swimming. He had to be convinced to go in the water, as usual, but after that he had fun. He spent almost two hours swimming, chasing waves from boats, and walking around in the shallows.

I am not in your area, but ... you should know that dog training is about teaching you how to interact with your dog, as opposed to teaching your dog how to do things. Most area Kennel Clubs offer training where you are your dogs partner in the class. The things you will learn will last your lifetime. I applaud the non-punitive approach. A lot of people fly off the handle when their dog chews on the wrong thing, or doesn't quite have potty training down. One of the best things you can do is give them love when they do it right and don't react when they don't. Recognize that he's just a pup. You can trade an acceptable chew toy for your shoes, and you can avoid the problem by closing the closet door so your pup can't get to your shoes. Accidents will happen and learning to potty doesn't happen overnight. Just provide a lot of verbal love when the pup gets it right and don't react when he doesn't. Love and praise are the best tools in your training bag. Congrats on your pup. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!

@elbrant Yes, she's good an patient sometimes, I've been taking pics of her from day 1 so she's used to it, I'm allowed a couple of mins and no more though.

Nice looking dog! I'm tempted to get another too once Safi is a bit older.
