While searching the Internet for Basenjis in need, I came across this ad: http://collegestation.craigslist.org/wan/4620128051.html
I'm sharing it here in case someone can help. Not just anybody can look after a Basenji!

an old lady want so much to have maca on her arms, i put up her and she grab Maca and kiss her, she was not so happy but she is so smart and i was saying, "muy bien Maca" well done Maca! and she let the old lady grab her and kiss her, i dont do that so much but Maca knows when its time to let people touching her.. sure, i only do for special ladys so she is fine. Im proud of her! sure!

I am with JazzysMom… I never barracade my tree... and we never did it when I was growing up either. The only thing my dogs do is eat the candy canes... so what... no different than the licorice I share with them!

This morning, Cha Cha was chasing the IG back behind the tree and that was his "hiding place" from her.

I do remember growing up that the only time anything was taken off the tree was when I would hang dog bones on it 😃 Now, who can blame them for scaling the tree then?? :eek:

We have our presents on the dining table right now... only because I was setting up a "background" for puppy pictures and then if I move them to below the tree... where is Preston/IG going to run and hide after he steals the basenjis toys??

Janneke, maybe they will ship one to you? I know that WWW won't deal directly with owners, but maybe some of the vendors/stores that carry them will be willing to ship to you?

Wizard, they usually use those collars for whippets and other sighthounds because the head is very narrow and not much bigger than the neck. Collars easily slip off so they often use a martingale style. Also they make them extra wide so they don't cut into the dog, it makes it more comfortable since they tend to have longer thin delicate necks. They're not heavily muscled like other breeds. And if they pull like Basenjis, it's good to have a wider collar to spread the pressure out! 🙂 Less likely to damage the trachea.

I used to always take Senji with me to the nursing home where my grandmother stayed for 1 1/2 years before she passed away. They allowed people to bring pets in to visit. Senji knew exactly where grandma's room was, even though it was down at the end of the hall. He also liked to jump into bed with grandma's roommate, who was a middle-aged stroke patient. He never got snarky or nippy at any of the other residents. It's like he knew they were old and disabled. The only time he's act up would be when he'd encounter the resident cat. 😃

My Aspen is a cattledog/ terrier mix he has the body of a cattledog {the colors} and the height and face of a terrier heres a pic so u can see the colors of the cattledog well one color anyways 😃 😃

phoenix3 - this is Aspen? I'm so amazed at her spots, because my Daisy has spots like Aspens. We know her mother is pure R/W Basenji and she is thought her other half Beagle. One of her other litter mate moms thought Blue Healer (cattledog). But I subscribed to the Beagle. Daisy could be … Cattle Dog I suppose. She's bigger than Duke now at almost 9 months old. I will show her off soon on "Show Off" forum soon.
