  • It was a sad day, I had to forfit Chance's first event. Hopefully we will be there tomorrow. Paws Crossed.

  • Thinking about you ladies, don't over do it.

Vanessa, Chance is young, he'll have lot's of shows to do in the future:) .

I know you hate to forfit.:(

Aw…:( Today is a new day. Keep us posted! ((Hugs)) and hope you all got some rest!

  • @lvoss:

Everyone is probably exhausted. It was a long day yesterday. The last event didn't finish until 7:30pm and then some of us helped with the blood draw which took until about 8:00pm. I had to drive home so I could teach today and didn't actually get home until midnight.

My husband is showing Sophie today in Puppy Sweeps. So far no news about how it is going.

Yesterday Nicky, DC Sherwood's In The Nick of Time SC, RN, LCM took 4th in the 9-11 year Vet Dog class. Pat's boy OJ was the oldest Vet in Sweeps and took 2nd in his class.

Sophie was 2nd in the 50% not greater than 75% 9-12 AF Puppy Class and her brother, Zeke, was 3rd in his class.

Hooray Sophie (& OJ, Pat) Keep us posted…how exciting! I hope you got some well-deserved rest!

  • Paws crossed for Vanessa and Chance :)

Lisa/Pat–do you know how late the events will go Friday afternoon? I'm going to be in a meeting in San Ramon in the a.m. and wanted to stop by the fairgrounds in the afternoon. I couldn't tell from the schedule what time the afternoon events would start and end.

We start at 10am… and most likely will be done around 2/3pm.... however if you can, come by on Saturday for the Basenji Club of Northern California Specialty... (yes us here in No Cal are nuts to have put on a National Specialty followed directly by our regional Specialty)

  • Hey! I am here, travelling companion Vickie Perrine (Rugosa Basenjis) Our flight in was a little rough, but we are having a great time so far! Pat…uh, could you fix the weather ;)

    It's better Pat! Thanks!

  • Does anybody know where I can check for results? I heard through the grapevine that Magnum's dad won some sort of veteran's award, and I'd like to confirm that.

NM, I got my answer. Magnum's dad (Ch Nyanga Signet Sweet William) won Best Veteran. Cool! Thanks for the update, Pat!

By the way, not only did Will win Best Veteran in Sweeps, but he was also Best of Breed for the entire Specialty from the 7 to 9 Veteran class!…

  • Good job to all the workers and planners - these things don't go on by magic but lots of hard work. I wish I could've been there but as we all know "life is what happens when we're making other plans."

Congrats to all winners - and congrats to all who participated - after all you can't win if you don't play. Thanks for playing!

I would love to bring Wheat down, but don't think I can make this show. Sigh. Please post the photos and such to this site. If we can't be there, at least we can share it with you!

@Quercus: We had a great time, Hippo managed to not be too much of a turd!! He won his class (he was the only one in it!) It was really fun meeting Nemo, and Nicole also from the forum. Hopefully we will be able to meet more of you at other shows this year!!! I just found this thread! It was great meeting you too. Hippo was such a sweet dog. He is a nice looking boy too. -Nicole

The gang in the picture "Basenji and rescue friends" where certainly entertaining but at the same time sad. One of the club members works for a Vet. Puppy mills bring in dogs for various reasons and sometimes after the Vet care is completed the Puppy mills figure they have too large of a bill and just don't come back to pick them up. This lady takes them in and she keeps them with her Basenji's. The Pug had both legs broken, and currently cannot use it's front legs, but somehow get's around…....it's a touch sad to watch. The little Chi wha wha, had a broken leg and was in a cast. Hopefully it will heal correctly and it can walk without problem.....they just don't know. Good to know there's folks that have a kind heart and are willing to take in such sad cases that no one else wants. My son and I couldn't help looking at them in there and comparing them to the toys on the Isle of misfit toys from the Christmas cartoon. They really where cute with they're basenji foster mom.
