I know a Basenji can't bark. My Basenji is just starting to understand his yodel…
It's really funny, but isn't that why we love Basenjis.

'Barking is a difficult term. I'm pretty sure that a Basenji with a normal dog bark isn't pure. However a Basenji does make a sound which to the uninitiated could be mistaken for a bark. In my opinion the sound is made inward rather than outward - that's the only way I can describe it. possibly others can do better? Some Basenjis will do this and some never do.

Yep your totally right on that one Basenjis do see things

Me too. We had a Siberian Husky mix growing up in NJ and she always sang with the noon or the fire whistle. I hope you hear the sweet sounds of Cooper singing soon…

I was talking to my husband last night about the one short bark that Jack does now. He thinks it is the funniest thing ever, because when he does it, he scares even himself. He looks at us like, "what was that?"

You can always check to see if the plant is poisonious or not on the ASPCA's website, they have a list of toxic things to dogs and if you are still concerned you can call the animal poison control phone number and speak with a vet on duty (know this from experience with my Fajita vegtable eating Puggle :( ) http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pro_apcc

Yeah… you should have heard Jazz at the dog show today when another dog got too close! And the poor dog hadn't even done anything. Now, why that dog triggered the response when several others had gone with little or no attention paid, I do not know. Then we came home and I took her for a quick jog down the road, and the neighbors {soooooooooo annoying} young boxer ran out to say hello and Jazzy's first response was to growl and snap. She is fine with Basenji's, but oh! what a bitch with anything else.
