CA-Orange-Possible Male Black & White Basenji or Mix-In Shelter

    I cannot tell from the picture but he does not look like a Chi but a possible Basenji or mix. He could be a Cardigan Welsh Corgi as they come in black & white. He is at the Orange County Animal Care Center. I have not contacted the shelter to see is he is still available. Is there anyone nearby who can check on him?

    I found out that this shelter does not have a Basenji rescue contact.

    I guess for some people he is too large for a Chi and not quite a Basenji-too small as he weighs 15 lbs. He is estimated to be 5 years old. If you know someone who might be interested in him or a rescue group that could take him, please forward the information. This boy is listed on Craigslist as urgent and here is his information and the link: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/pet/2772364788.html "CODY" needs a second chance. He is a male, Chihuahua / Basenji Mix. He has been at the Van Nuys shelter since OCTOBER 15, 2011. Because "CODY" has been at the shelter so long he is running out of time. Due to the shelter running over capacity he will be euthanized soon if he does not get adopted. Please if you are looking for a dog consider adopting "CODY" and giving him a second chance.     It's a good thing we don't have a need for a lot of rescues up here. I would have a house full of B's and probably be divorced just as quick.

    Thanks for the update, Debbi. I really hope they stay on top of things and make sure to call BRAT if they ever have a basenji. This shelter's in the national spotlight for some really awful accountability and leadership problems. The less time ANY dog spends in there, the better… unfortunately, a lot of times it means the dogs are being dragged directly to the kill room. =( Anyway, thank you for checking. I hope someone can swoop in to help her soon -- she's a cutie, whatever she is.
