Kipawa loves yogurt

  • Here's a video of my sweet Kipawa and one of his favourite foods, yogurt.

Unfortunately the camera didn't work perfectly with the lighting.

  • Gooood Basenji Kipawa! That handsome boy looks all grown up now!

Dan, he does seem all grown up now, though I did have a basenji growth chart somewhere, and will check what it says for a 14 month old male. He is pretty well 27 lbs. now. Kevin Leimback said he would hit 28, and I agree, because I kind of think he is in a last growth spurt right now.

  • Great video & wonderful looking dog. One comment however, you should reshoot the video with the camera's back to the window, with the light on the dog (not shooting into the light). Shooting into a window causes everything to black out. I think its worth reshooting.

  • My girls love yogart… it is their "lunch time" treat after cookies at noon time when I go home from work. And right off the spoon! Not too spoiled

WOW 27! Buddy is 30 lbs and when he bolts around off leash sometimes runs into me from behind and almost knocks me over.

  • Nice video! He sure seems to like it.
Never tried it with Voodoo, but will check if there is some yoghurt in the fridge first thing in the morning!

  • Oh yes, both of my B's love their yogurt. I usually let them lick out the container when I am done. It's funny because Tucker will have his whole head in the yogurt container to get to the bottom them come out with a white ring around his face. Yogurt on his eyebrows and cheeks. Then Becca tries to lick him off and he gets all pissy because she is licking his face. (My dogs also know how to eat off a fork and spoon, I guess they could be a Little spoiled…)

  • My B loves yogurt as well. That and anything with cheese, the dairy food group is a favorite one around here.

    Kipawa is looking great! :)

  • I haven't met a Basenji who doesn't like yoghourt! (I'm sure there's one on the forum though!) Kipawa certainly looks grown up now and so well behaved..

  • So I see we have lots of yogurt loving basenjis! So cool. :)

Yes, we plan on reshooting the video again. And this time I'm going to shut up. I sound snarky! Lovely how the voice changes as we age. Like grey hair wasn't enough?

  • I don't think I have met a dog period who doesn't like yogurt! I feed both my dogs yogurt mixed in their evening kibble. I don't think I have ever seen kibble eaten so fast! lol

You and Scarlett will enjoy the class - and it already sounds like you have a lot of the basics going very, very well. :) I found the part of the class I didn't like was the first 10 minutes where all dogs were allowed off leash to socialize. With FoPaws puppies being so well socialized, I found that first 10 minutes just wound up Kipawa so much, with all the playing! Then, it took me a good 10 minutes to calm him down enough to really work well in the class. The good news is that I am seeing as Kipawa ages and becomes more respectful he doesn't need to go wild when he first meets a new dog. I also think that not taking him to the play area off leash park is also helping him.
  • Would love your guys opinion again

Regardless of how she looks - the fact is that having 2 bitches together is frequently a disaster - it will work until it doesn't. In a young puppy standing toeing out is not so bad because as they develop they will have more spring of rib and the feet will correct to front. Toeing in this badly at 2 will only get worse - judges that are hard core sighthound judges will put her to the end of the line with that much toeing in. (Pat Craig Trotter comes to mind) I like the neck shape better on this one - but again from the picture we are looking at just parts - how the dog uses what they have is the main thing and we can't tell that from a picture. Take your bitch out - learn what it's all about so that when you develope an eye not for what is available but for some lines that you like - you can find a nice male to join your house.
