Message from Sally Wallis

  • just finished sending in 2 updates. :)

  • Where does Sally Wallis get her information from? I found Blaze in her list and she also lists two other littermates…however, there were a total of four dogs in that litter, so one of them is not listed.

How would I go about sending her a picture of Blaze to be included with his information?

She gets her info from people. So if someone had, say one of the puppies, they might have sent the info on it. that person may not have known of the other dog. OR it could be the breeders…buuut if there is missing info, im betting its not the breeder.

All you have to do is go to the site, get the email address and send her the missing information. When she gets the site updated (about every few days or so) it will appear on there. Its really simple and she loves putting new dogs/info on there! :) Hope i helped. If you need the email address ill look for it on there for you, otherwise just click the link and go to her homepage (i believe) and you can find it.

  • As one of the people who usually helps her to get info, often those that help out will find a dog in show results that she doesn't have and then can track them through the AKC website. This only works if all the pups are registered though. Same if some dogs have had testing done through OFA.

That's interesting because I never sent her information on Blaze. And if it was the breeder who gave her the information, it seems strange that she would have forgotten about one of the dogs in the litter. Hmmm….

    Thanks, I'll do that.

Sally gets much of her information from AKC registrations, so if pups from the litter are registered, she can pick up that information. Not all breeders make sure all the pups in the litter are registered, they may give the papers to the new owners and tell them to send them in. However, many pet owners do not.

I send in all the registrations on my pups myself to make sure they are all registered.

  • Thanks Tanza, i forgot to mention AKC.

We got a Limited Registration form from Blaze's breeder. I did send it in, so that's most likely where Sally got her information. I know one other pup from Blaze's litter went to a pet home, so that's probably the one that's missing from her list.

  • I'm happy to say that Kipawa (FoPaws Man in Motion) is on the database. Thanks to Therese (FoPaws) for registering the whole litter! It's great to be able to check out all of Kipawa's family. :)

Makes sense. :) Glad you found things out

Very nice! Great to hear! I love when breeders do it themselves so the info is all there. I know if i ever started breeding, id register my dogs myself too so that i knew they were there and trackable. :)

  • You can also send in pedigree information for non AKC registered Basenjis. It is important that these are in the database since it is difficult-virtually impossible to obtain this information from the registration companies and/or the breeders.

  • Sally is making such a nice job!

Here only one breeder was sending info, now there are 2 more and bunch of puppies that some friends send to Sally, will be super nice that she can get the whole mexican basenji map, but sadly a bunch of people here have breeding their dogs and not registed at all.

@tanza I don't believe there was a limit to the number of letters, though I wasn't paying much attention to whether the field stopped me from continuing. Tanza is nice! I was actually surprised no one has claimed the name :D

@tanza said in solving the "bad breeder" problem:: you know nothing about breeding ... In all fairness, @tanza, you don't have any idea where my breadth of knowledge lies. I have previously stated that I have no desire to become a breeder, but that isn't the point. Is it? You are venting because I am firmly standing my ground. We've been through this discussion before and I'd wager that we will do it again. Over the same thing, ad nauseam. either allow this or ... I understand that you are frustrated. @eeeefarm said in solving the "bad breeder" problem:: It is also fair to state any provable fact, but that should be left up to the individual, e.g. "my puppy has "such & such" condition, and my puppy came from "so & so" breeder with this existing condition. I agree with this, provided there is a way to prove that the illness could have been prevented by the breeder. That doesn't mean that every illness is breeder related. For example: Parvo and Giardia are widespread issues commonly contracted from one infected animal coming into contact with another, before or after the pup leaves the breeder. A pup with Giardia isn't necessarily a result of poor care by the breeder because it would be almost impossible to determine where the pup was infected. I think we should avoid referring to a breeder using subjective terms like: bad, irresponsible, etc. You cannot prove an opinion. If someone sees a statement (like that) about them and decides to contact an attorney, you and I aren't the ones who would be going to court. @JENGOSMonkey Thank you for your two cents (I liked the image, too). You are right. Most of what I do as a "moderator" is banning people who create profiles for commercial websites to improve their Google rank. I feel like if I kick them off right away, they won't bother us with inappropriate posts. I have banned over 2,000 profiles (so far), looks like I have 3 or 4 more to tend to today.

@tanza I'm definitely attending the next show as a recon trip. Not sure how the work here but if they're similarly easy to enter as the ones in the US, I do want to show Roux! LOL that's a hilarious saying; I absolutely appreciate a smart lady over cluelessness haha :face_with_tongue:

@zande - So true Zande, the test is 65.00 and considering the heartbreak and cost of caring for a Fanconi Basenji (try shoving down 20+ pills a day) it is something that anyone breeding, even Back Yard Breeders or Puppymills should always do... Also if someone happens to get a puppy or is unsure about the breeder they did get a Basenji puppy from, spend the 65.00 and have the DNA Fanconi test done... again it is a cheek swab that you order from OFA.org
