Hope - Attacker of Treats

  • Well the one day i didnt take her into work, we had a shipment of new treats come in :) and of course the salon dogs get to try them out! (i work in a dog grooming salon)

So i took a couple home for her to try (one was dried chicken breast and the other was dried mussel) and because i was at home im like! Video camera!! as she always has us in fits of laughter at her antics :)

    enjoy :)

    This is the chicken breast

and this is the dried mussel (first time trying one)

does anyone else's basenjis do this :)

  • Most certainly!! Little Lewie does this…but to a slightly lesser degree (he's only 4 months old and I expect it to eventually develop into full on treat attacks!)

  • First Basenji's

Haha. So cute. It's like she's dancing for her "offering." =)

Here in the US, I have seen mussel in various ZiwiPeak treats (made in New Zealand), but otherwise, it's hard to find. My dogs love it though! Is it a common dog food protein in Australia?

lol never thought of it like that :) hehehe

This is the first time we've tried the mussels as treats. I havent seen them around in other pet stores/shops here so i thinnk we are the first to offer them for sale.. we just order them in through our treats wholesaler.

They are called NZ Green Lip Mussels .. and when you get a bag of them, oh boy do they STINK :P

  • :eek:ps. dont mind the little brown looking dirt/stain on the carpet.. earlier that morning, before work…. while i was in the shower... someone decided to steal the tea bag and rip it open .....

    silly spider monkey:cool:

  • Hahaha I love the treat attack moves! Dex does that, also to a lesser degree. I hope it grows into this though! :)

  • we call that the bone dance

  • We call this the happy dance!

  • Houston

Love it…Pippin does the same thing..when treats are involved, certain toys or sometimes when he is trying to entice the other dogs into play..we call it crazy dance..

by the way..love your youtube "callname"..Wild girl ;)

  • Not sure if you are aware, but the NZ Green Lipped Mussel is very good for both your B, but for you also. It is used to treat arthritis, and back pain. I have been taking it for severe arthritis in my right ankle for the last 4 years and it really helps. I found out about it from our Vet. he prescribed it for our Corgi when she had back problems about 13 years ago.

  • So cute. We see that a lot, but mostly with toys. If Ariel took the time to kill her treats, the labradoodle would get them for sure;)

You have a lovely girl!:) Thanks for posting!

  • Very cute!! I love that…we also call it happy dance! I particularly love it when the oldsters do it at our house...ever now and then Querk (12.5) will get happy for no reason, and hop around the family room...adorable!

It never ceases to amaze me the great information I get from these boards! Nice to know!

i know! its great isnt it! we get all these "healthy treats" in at work for the dogs and our customers (my boss does nutrtition and loves finding stuff like that). We also have dried minow (omegas) and lots of other goodies :) -also great for after her little accident

I totally agree Quercus - especially about the oldies - it's a delight to see them dancing around..

  • THIS IS HILARIOUS! How funny, Shango doesn't do this, Newsom doesn't either but I wish they did- how cute??

Now imagine them on the African plains hunting a wild animal. Would theses tactics work?? LOL

    Thanks for sharing, very cute!

  • Cara and Arwen, not so much. But Sayblee did that with many new foods, rearing and jumping on them, etc. Very very cute! Thanks for sharing!

she went from being a fussy puppy to being a puppy that just wants and loves food. if you have food she will do any trick you ask her with 110% enthusiasam if it means shes gettin food lol but i am glad shes not a fussy girl! We are waiting to hear back from the breeder to see what pups are reserved and which arent. Very excited. Hope gets to play with a chinese crested at work and she also plays with another two iggies down at the small breed social i run every fortnight, she seems to know that she has to be careful with the smaller dogs :) shes not much into wrestling with others, more or less just wants to run run run! i will have to upload a video of her and yoshi (the chinese crested) playing at work (the most ive seen her play! as usually its just tag, now chase me!) and will post the link here. So funny and cute. will post iggie baby photos once a decision's made :) EDIT: Video link to them playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDTjuz_tNpM

Buddy snatched up a few treats this morning on early walk from kids who dropped some goodies. Too quick before I could stop him. Of course he had the runs on this afternoons walk.

hehe she is great, we always try to get her to yodel and make noises and she always greets us, when we've been out, with yodels so we are very pleased :D She also lets us know when people are around with a short "bark" @irena: Ha ha, I have to say you are the great yodeler also :D. From our 4 only Buju yodels. hahahaha thanks ;) anything to keep her going! After she has done her yodels and stops we occasionally yodel to her and she just looks at us like "seriously? what are you on! stop that!"

In the last few seconds Kiya looks like she's trying to get you with the eyes: "Look into my eyes, you can't resist me I'm too cute, treeeeeat meeeeee."
