I would take her in a heartbeat if I had room.. unfortunately I'm pushing my limits with my father already, as I've saved a few cats while living with him again. She sounds like a wonderful dog. I have no doubt that the bites were provoked. Dogs, especially Basenjis, can be very sensitive. If you don't understand that you're dealing with an animal that has feelings too, you're in trouble. I will keep her in my prayers. May she find the best fur-ever home!

Reply to: comm-aec4g-2263283778@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]Hello!
I am looking for a good home for a male basenji. He is 4 years old and tri colored, brown, black and white.
Not only is he super sweet, but he's extremely handsome.
I have been taking care of him for a friend in need who can no longer have pets and my landlords are going to charge me pet rent and a deposit for him that I am unable to afford.
He used to show and as a result has not been fixed.
He would get along best with the following:A home without cats
A home with children. He loves children and is the sleep in the bed and cuddle type. A home without children would be suitable as well, but kids generally love him.
A home that if there is another dog, that dog is not easily intimidated or bullied by a male dog with territory issues most likely because he hasn't been fixed. He is house trained and fully potty trained. He will either sleep all day or if you're up for it, take as many walks as you want. He will want to be in your lap, snuggled close to you.
If interested, please provide the following in a response email to this post:
How you feel you would be able to provide a loving home

I sent these folks a letter from BRAT in case they need our help rehoming him. He sounds lovely!

Since this dog was shown, and kept intact, he may have been bred by a breeder who is willing to take him back.

I am trying to findout who but so far, no response from this person listing this b.

I forwarded the information to the breeders that are members of Willamette Valley Basenji Club and Evergreen Basenji Club along with Sharron, BRAT representative.
I emailed the poster on the 13th and have not gotten a response. Hopefully he will end up in a good place.
