Help me find my B's Breeder!

    yeah, that kind of blew me away, too. I've known a lot of people who don't know much about the AKC, but I've never known anyone who wasn't aware of it, and certainly never a vet that didn't know something about it.

    Boggles the mind.

    Actually I may have found some information - I searched the site for Bear and just scrolled until I found something with Panda Bear and behind it is Bolar. Sounds awfully close - if that is the right set of animals (there are some from NZ mixed in so they are not all together) you likely have an animal from a puppy mill. I do recognize many names behind those dogs.

    The only breeders I'm aware of that may fit the bill of geography and have B&W are Karen Kutchta and Deb Devorchak, There was also the K-Bar kennel - geez what was her name - but I think they were in Michigan. If you want to email me off the list - you are welcome to do so and I'll sleuth a bit further with you.

    There are also some folks who track B&W because some believe that there is 2 distinct genetics in B&W - some of those folks may be able to help you. Contact me at:

    Well, I've been off this post for a long time… and I greatly appreciate everyone sluething! I'm guessing I will just have to be satisfied with not knowing Rocky's actual pedigree. It would have been nice to know his background 9and possibly follow some of his original doggie family), but I am content in knowing that we are his family and he is loved. As he's a neutered male, it's not like we're breeding him!

    You should consider doing the DNA test for Fanconi especially with not knowing the pedigree… www.basenjihealth.org

    And remember all, for those not DNA tested, monthly strip tests are a MUST

    It's all good. If it weren't for the constant incontinance, I'd wonder about him having Fanconi too. It still amazes me how "normal" they can act while being so sick!

    @cheryl-goodman - Have you talked to your girl's breeder? Have you completed all health testing and recorded it with www.offa.org as public record, especially DNA testing for Fanconi and PRA? Have you done any showing or performance events with your girl?

    No surprise there as there has been a few craiglist posts from this person with Basenjis to place…ie: FOR SALE! I don't think she ever stopped breeding.

    The public database does not list breeder but Sally does track breeders in her personal database.

    Two of a Kind's Pemba ( 19 dec 2004 ) has no father it is Azania's Bri Lubutu A big THANK you ! I will add him and it will appear as soon as I do another re-indexing, re-uploading exercise. At the moment I am trying to catch up on the fanconi results from the CPP website. spw

    Haha a Basenji breeder making profit that´ll be the day if one makes end´s meet(hmm is that english)one should be so lucky.I´m not a breeder but my boy has been used for stud this fall and just paying all the shows(gas,show entries etc)the extensive health testing hips,eyes,fanconi,thyroid panel including TgAA wasn´t cheap.Can assure anyone that his stud fee won´t make me rich but that´s not what i´m intrested in i´m more curious seeing what kinda puppies this combo will give and if he passes on his qualities.

    @Quercus: http://www.pedigrees.zandebasenjis.com/ Did you try here, above? Can you put the sire and dam's numbers into the ACA website? Or is there a number to actually talk to someone, maybe they could help you more? I would think that since you have the litter number, the ACA could help you, if you could talk to a human…. I contacted the ACA last Friday and was told I had to prove that Tippy was a rescue by faxing such documentation. I sent that information in, similar to the info shown in the original post above, including BRAT documentation accordingly. Then, yesterday, I followed up with ACA and was told that a supervisor made the determination that they could'nt help me unless BRAT issued an ACA registration application to me. Then I contacted a few BRAT board members and one answered saying they've never had seen nor heard of such a thing. I'm beginning to feel like the ACA is trying to hide something, something to the effect that they are really a "false marketing front" for the profit-making pet industry. A couple of very nice basenji-loving folks have stepped forward to try to help track down potential puppy mill/pedigree information, but if they are not successful, I wonder how I can convince the ACA that my interest in Tippy's pedigree is purely medical and to support the Fanconi research efforts? Does anyone think it would help if I told the ACA that Tippy is already neutered (as BRAT requires for all their rescues)? I don't necessarily want to register him at all, but if that's what it takes to get his pedigree, I will do it.
