Bring your paperwork that the breeder gave you to your first visit because they will want to know some things like birth date, always (in the first year or so when lots of shots are administered) bring the vaccination record book Pam and Sheila gave you and ensure they make a copy of it and not just write it down..you will also want to update your copy as your pup receive shots so like I said..bring it so they can fill it in for you. Any questions you have regarding vaccinations I highly suggest asking your vet but also getting in touch with Pam to ask her opinion, she knows her dogs and her lines and she is better equipped than the vet to give you an honest evaluation on which to give. Also try to follow her guidance on neutering and spaying (if you plan to). I know with Oakley I followed their advice. It might be true or not but in my opinion basenjis tend to mature slower and I find they need more time for the growth plates to close before castrating is a wise choice.
Questions before I get my Basenji pup!

I didn't have him in a crate. I had him in a portable pen in another room to sleep, but he has been perfect on pottying outside so I let him sleep with me last night and he slept all night and then pottied right when I took him out this morning!

Pen/crate same thing really…. however don't be surprised for set backs....but most will sleep through the night when you let them sleep in bed...:)

The test has only been in existence for 4 yrs, before that, none of us knew whether our dogs were carriers or not.

mary beth weiss is a back yard breeder her adult female annie is ckc not akc and was was purchased from a puppymill
mary beth has not tested for fanconi beyond strip testing (or so she says)
when i contacted her she knew almost nothing about fanconi called it doggie diabetes and said that symptoms didnt show up until a dog was quite oldmary beth weiss does nothing but use these dogs to make money selling puppies then gets rid of them she has had her 3 adults listed on kiji for months at a low price selling them as "breeders"
she will not be taking back any puppies from any buyer as she has a limit of 3 dogs where she lives

She is very mellow easygoing, she loves contact and must be with me or my girlfriend always. She is crazy smart and sweet also … She can do a few tricks... If there is food... If SHE wants to. And she is starting to howl when we come home after she is done going nuts, n her ears stay folded back from excitement. I have a few pix up on a thread called Athena has arrived, and when I get others re sized I'll put them here
