I look forward to fostering. I'm hoping I can fill out the paperwork in August. 🙂

She is a 2yr old mostly basenji x as far as I can figure, although I would love to get input on that from the experts. Black tri female, weighs 40 #, erect ears and curly tail. OWNS ME and makes sure everyone knows it Displayed major separation anxiety when I kept her in a crate, better now that I just give her rein of the house, and deal with the occasional aftermath  Can bark, but also makes some interesting noises, and loves to sigh and let the world know just how much she has to put up with… VERY high energy and rediculously athletic. She does differ from most basenjis from what I've read, in that she is very good and trustworthy off leash and has an excellent recall. I take her riding with me on 4 mile trail rides and she stays within 30 feet of my horse at all times. She is my best girl, and now that I have her, I don't know how I ever lived without a basenji in my life
I am hoping to get her a basenji friend to hang out with if I can find the right one to fit in to our family. Hoping contacts on here will help with that quest!

She is adorable! I love the pic where she's standing upright.
It's always so interesting to me to see how the mixes come out…Welcome. Stick around here, and you'll see regular postings about available Basenji all over the US from Craigslist repostings, as well as occasional other golden opportunities from reputable breeders. Have you also filled out an adoption application with BRAT (Basenji Rescue and Transport)? They often have more Basenjis available than the ones listed online, and if you submit an application, you can also get e-mail notifications for new B's available for adoption as well as mixes.
Good luck in your search!

Welcome. In spite of some folks opinions, this is a very good group. -
In spite of some folks opinions, this is a very good group.
I will attest to that. About a year ago I joined this forum because I knew a basenji was going to be in my future (as a pet). I jumped in and probably asked many questions that made me look like a 'rookie'. I was. Everyone here provided great information for me. Along with reading books, going to dog shows to see basenjis, and reasearching basenjis online, I was provided with enough knowledge to finally select a breeder and get my splendid male puppy, Kipawa.
In life, you will always come across people who trigger negative emotions in you. You will not be immune from that on this forum as there are humans here, many of them with strong opinions. The key is to get past what initially appears to be a snarky comment, and look at the information provided to see what you can learn from it. That said, for an online forum, I find this one to have very few bad intentioned people on it. In fact, I don't think there are any.
We'd love to see more pictures of your basenji! Heaven knows I flood this forum with pictures of Kipawa.

Thanks everyone! Paisley is my princess I have hundreds of other pics of her, so watch out, cause you will get flooded. I just have to figure out how to post them directly in the thread instead of linking pics.

Oh wow! She is so lovely! I have never seen such an elegant mix.

Welcome, Kat and Paisley! She is a beautiful girl; isn't it amazing how quickly they fill our hearts?
