    Yes, they was lovley :)
I have now decided that in the year 2012 It gonna be a Basenji in my little pack.
If I had the choice I will have a Back and White girl or a Brindle Girl I think :D

  • Sounds great! Have you already decided on a breeder?

  • @Janneke:

No, I was looking for a forum in sweden there I can learn mor about the breed and get to know the breeders and the type of dog they breed, if its more working, more humanfrendly, more hunting and so on but its hard when I don't have anyone that I know with the breed.

But i Really like Popi from EE, the same breeder as your Tillo.

But I really whant a girl and they are hard to get here. Everyone seams to be sold before they are born haha :D

Yes, they mostly are all sold before being born. Good breeders make sure they have a waiting list before breeding ;)

If you like Popi, just send Asa an email. She's very nice and also active in the club. I'm sure you are more than welcome to visit! I'm waiting for my puppy to be born next week and mommy-to-be is a half-sister of Popi :)

?sa was one of the breeders I emailed with questions and I got great help from her so I have emailed her was I can do for the dog and little of how the life is for a dog in my family so I hope I fit as a basenji owner to one of her pups and I hope it is a girl left for me ;)

  • I wish you every success in your search for a puppy.

  • Houston

Great pictures Nataly..I recognize some faces, they all look great.
I wish you best of luck in your quest for a basenji..starting now for a dog in 2012 is a great thing..especially since they seem to fill up their slots fast. Go visit with as many as you feel like..and have a few on stand by, if you can, should it not pan out with your top choice. Either way, it will be exciting and well worth the wait. :):D

  • Same as the US from responsible breeders… 99.9% of the time litters are already spoken for with resversations before they are born... many potential owners need to be prepared to wait if they are "Jumping" in at the last minute...

And I will say that here in the US with responsible breeders... when we don't have something that will suit or the breeding didn't take, we will try our best to find another breeder that would have something for that person

  • Janneke, your getting another puppy? Good for you… And Tillo :-)
I am seriously thinking of getting another in 2012 I guess I should start, but I havent completely made up my mind yet, maybe I'll wait to 2013, but that's so far away!!!!

I am not in your area, but ... you should know that dog training is about teaching you how to interact with your dog, as opposed to teaching your dog how to do things. Most area Kennel Clubs offer training where you are your dogs partner in the class. The things you will learn will last your lifetime. I applaud the non-punitive approach. A lot of people fly off the handle when their dog chews on the wrong thing, or doesn't quite have potty training down. One of the best things you can do is give them love when they do it right and don't react when they don't. Recognize that he's just a pup. You can trade an acceptable chew toy for your shoes, and you can avoid the problem by closing the closet door so your pup can't get to your shoes. Accidents will happen and learning to potty doesn't happen overnight. Just provide a lot of verbal love when the pup gets it right and don't react when he doesn't. Love and praise are the best tools in your training bag. Congrats on your pup. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!

@elbrant Yes, she's good an patient sometimes, I've been taking pics of her from day 1 so she's used to it, I'm allowed a couple of mins and no more though.

Yep– you did fine and I left you his email. They smell like what they are-- salmon. Since I love salmon I don't mind. The bad part is they know where I have them in a closed plastic storage box and Cara got ON THE KITCHEN TABLE trying to get to the shelf, lol. They last about as long as the chicken jerky treats but I am giving the a big one. I have not used the chips yet (they are about 2 inches to 3 inches square). The big ones they tear pieces off, crunch, swallow and on to next piece. I wouldn't know how they smell wet as by then they are down the gullet, lol. I guess I should video them eating one. Arwen just goes into ecstasy.
