    Now, some if this is going waaaaaay overboard! I think if anyone put my underwear on the dog I'd have to, well, kill 'em!

    The ones where they are actually made to look like small people, the owners need help. And the Weimeraner (spelling?) knows she looks ridiculous. And isn't happy about it.

    But ya' gotta admit, the hot-dogs are funny. I don't think that owner went too far.

    I'd never put it on Medjai, but I find the costumes that turn the dog into a horse with it's own little cowboy hilarious.

    I would not put any of those onto Jaycee but the main thing here is "Some people never have kids". Some people cannot have kids and some have lots of money and to them this is there child.

    Everyone has to have something to love so it is a dog, cat, rabbit, bird while we may not like what they do with there dogs. If they knew each of us they may not like the way we have raised our children.

    I think the costumes are pretty funny though I wouldn't do it. Most dogs are go with the flow for a couple of hours and if the dog's not miserable or really uncomfortable it's their business. My last 2 Basenjis would wear sweaters for a walk when it was really cold but when the walk was done it was "get this off me now"!. Now I haven't tried putting a sweater on Buddy because it has not been very cold and his fur is pretty thick but I'm pretty sure he would rip off a costume in a minute. I was in Target on Sunday and they had dog costumes, even had the hot dog one.

    LOL. THANKs for the good laugh. What a HOOT! We talked about tu tus for the boys, but I will NOT spend $25 on each dog for something they would probably EAT. And then get sick!

    Some of the costumes are very clever, feel sorry for the Weirmeraner (know i've spelled it wrong), it looks downright embarrased.
    Didnt dress up Benji and Max, exept for a santa hat and christmas wreath.
    Also Benji had utility clothing, that is a knitted jumper and a wax jacket. He only wore the coat in very bad weather and also the jumper. Have to say it seemed to give him a lot of cofort to be warm and cozy in his old age.
    He used to enjoy having the jumper on, trouble was it seemed to make Max fancy him for some reason and he would try to hump him.Or maybe he thought Benji had lost the plot and he was trying to dominate him and become top dog :D

    The golden I used to have did similar things w/her ears/eyes when I approached w/a leash. It was a habit formed from years of me sliding a new collar on with the leash attached. She'd squint and pull her ears back in anticipation of the collar being slid over her head. The smile? I never got that.

    I so wish this article would make it on the list of news worthy items to talk about on the news circuit through out the country..at least if it is seen by the millions throughout…maybe we can keep a few elderly dogs out of the shelters and off the streets.. Thank you so much for posting AgileBasenji..it touched me lots.. My two elderly dogs passed away in march and then again exactly one month later to the day..in april..very hard for me and my hubby, but also for our kids..these two dogs had been in our lives since we were dating and they were there when we brought Sofia and Lukas home from the hospital...through illness, happiness and age we have loved, laughed and hugged these two boys...we miss them so much..

    @Shaye's: My granddaughter has a one year old son who has just been walking recently - when he is in our home, both my B's back away from him - I do believe it's because of the eye level contact. When Evan is on the floor, neither dog minds sniffing him and being around him, but when he is on his feet, they become wary. At that point, everyone is watching very closely - any sign of the wrong kind of contact, and they would be put into a separate room. So far, so good - but children do sometimes have a different kind of energy that makes dogs nervous, so to be safe if your dog shows aggression, hire a behaviorist, and separate them until they learn. The most likely reason is the way in which they move. It is kind of hurkey-jerky, and unpredictable…dogs don't like that much. And they naturally stare at things that are interesting. Little kids also don't have much sense about when it is okay to reach out towards a dog, and when it isn't. Most adults have grown to be able to read a dog even a little, and if the dog looks nervous, they don't reach out...but kids, nope..they reach out no matter what :) Again, dogs can't predict what they will do, and their typical warnings don't stop a child. I have always said, the trouble with dogs and kids doesn't happen when you bring the baby home...it is when the baby starts walking!

    @Schouiffy: The only older Dog organization en Suisse I have heard of is http://www.oasis-des-veterans.com but I dont know if she matches up older dogs with older ppl - she does adopt them out though. =) made my heart melt, and my eyes get a bit watery - so I had to "godparent" a dog. That's a good idea to become a godmother, I'll check the site; I felt like you when a saw a program on TV, as the person who looks after older dogs lets elderly people adopt them and if they die, she takes the dogs back! All the dogs were crippled, half blind, no teeth, etc,etc, I was nearly in tears at the end of the programme, getting too sentimental I think! Saying that, the dogs looked much happier than a lot of elderly people in old people's homes!

    I LOVE It's Me Or The Dog!!! She is awesome. She really lays down the law for people. Especially when the family pack order is all out of whack, which is often.

    That is a happy ending! My SIL's boxer ran out the door one Christmas morning at the other SIL's house. We all watched in horror as she dashed into the street and ran INTO an car. She bounced off the passenger door, and seemed completely unphased!
