I recently "married" a Basenji!

  • First Basenji's

She's from here in Arizona…...born 12/6/2000. Isn't it funny how they don't mind being dressed up? My 2 sons, who are now in their 20's, are darn glad I have someone else to dress up these days! And they wouldn't mind it if I made her take dance lessons, too!!!! ha ha ha ha ..........(I only made the oldest take dance lessons.....and it was when he was very young and only until he broke it to me that he'd rather take wrestling!!!) ANYWAY, Lexi and Haley probably ARE related somewhere up the line! They are both awfully beautiful..........if we do say so ourselves!! ;)

Thank you, Rita Jean! (our family is a bit heavy on the testosterone side! haha)

Oh and thanks to all of you for your nice comments. This is such a nice place to "visit"!

  • I can't believe Haley's from Arizona. I could swear she and Lexi must be kin! ;) They seem so much alike in their mannerisms! And I LOVE that she gets dressed up too!! More pics, more pics!! :)

  • Aww, such cute pictures and what a lovely family! Looks like you and Haley are quite the team already. :)

Hey, I have one of those paw crossers too. lol

  • I like the crossed legs we also have one of those. They must be saying there pray before they do there next thing what ever it maybe. So very pretty against that dark bown.

That's a good word for them. And yes, Roxie was certainly haming it up for the crowd that day. lol

  • Sadie just I cannot tell yet what Jaycee will do next I may never be able to tell I may be the one with crossed arms I am going to pass on the leg part.

I have a Basenji with IBD, I have her on Hills Z-D prescription hypoallergenic, but I am considering trying raw diet. I am doing my homework now, and joined a raw diet support group on facebook.

As mine age I try to keep a bit of weight on them because I know they may reach a stage when they just don't keep weight as the organs weaken.

Hi Vicki - I love your name. ;) Welcome and I hope to see more of your postings. This is the best site for help, advice, and friendship. I, too, use the squirt bottle and always keep a cup of water on the counter for more drastic intervention. My two will go at it, then clean each other up once they are wet. It is funny.

Mind you, Bella was a surprise birthday gift from my husband. He wanted a boxer, but I wanted a smaller dog (he said he wasn't getting either). He went to a pet store:( and saw my girl… and fell in love with her! He arranged everything and proceeded to tell me we were going out and it was a surprise for my birthday. He blindfolded me:cool: and took me there and I didn't know where I was going until I walked into the store. I was asked to guess what my present was... then told to close my eyes while they got her. I didn't know until they put her in my arms who my sweetie girl was going to be.:D How could I resist this beautiful little Basenji baby bundle of joy! I never even imagined it would be a Barkless African dog. I don't approve of puppy mills or encourage them, "backyard breeders" either. But at that very moment these thoughts were further in the back of my mind:rolleyes: ...

@lvoss: Instead of a teeter or in addition to, you may want to build a wobble board. These are great for teaching pups to get used to surfaces that move and they can move in any direction and the board moves. I used this with my last litter and they loved it and my girl Sophie has been absolutely fearless about all the agility equipment. http://www.mfrye.com/agilityeq/buja.html Great suggestion and wonderful Idea. Its probably a better choice than I would have made for him. Also thanks for the link on how to build one. Jason
