If you leave things in their reach (any puppy/young dog) will get into trouble.... pick things up.... put them away, they do not know the difference between their toys/chews and things like remotes/glasses/etc... they have your scent on them. You have to work on crate training if you can't secure a place for them.
Shaye's latest

Attached are a few of Shaye's most recent pictures. We really think she is a beauty.

Awww, love the pic of her asleep on her back!! Not particularly ladylike!!!
She is gorgeous.
-
I must say, "ladylike" is not, at this point, a word anyone would use to describe Shaye. I'm sure when she grows all up, she will be more aware of herself, but right now, it's "fun, fun, fun, get into everything I possibly can, and bite everything and everybody available!" Puppy teeth hurt..

Incidentally, I noticed you have a tri-color - those are so pretty! Online when checking out Basenji traits, I saw one standing tall and staring the camera in the eye - what an elegant dog - what a great picture. I've never seen one in person, but I have seen a black and white - ALL the colors Basenjis wear are very impressive, I think.

She's adorable! Thanks for sharing the photos
These dogs sleep in the oddest positions…

She's too cute! What does her name mean?
-
The name Shaye comes from the Gaelic - also spelled Shea, or Shay for the masculine, it means courage and independence, honor - she sure has the independence down pat!
-
She's super cute! Congrats and enjoy puppyhood!

They sleep in the strangest poses. We should start a new pic thread with just weird sleep/resting poses.
-
Neat, thanks for sharing.

Such a perfect name for a Basenji!

What a beautiful dog!

We met shay at the park today and she is a beautiful little thing.
-
Thank you, NeffJohn. We think she is beautiful too! She had such fun at that park we will probably try to do it quite often. At other parks I don't believe she'll find so many Basenjis. Even though she did get bitten, I don't believe the mark on her nose will scar, and her fat lip is going down nicely. Poor baby will know better perhaps than to mess with someone who warns her to stop.

I'm glad Shaye is OK, that gave us a scare. It was such a pleasure to meet you and your husband and the darling Shaye. She is such a cute little puppy, so energetic and fearless!
Shaye's mom brought Shaye to the dog park yesterday to meet up with us. There was a boy pup her age, who she pretty much ignored, and 12 other basenjis. She was a little tornado, racing about and teasing the big dogs. She ignored some warning growls and got nailed, but thankfully not serious. Shaye was back running in 10 minutes. She is a really pretty and sweet little girl, way more energy than I could manage!
So we had 6 basenjis from Forum, John's Bodhi and Savanna, my 3 and Shaye…how cool is that????
