Begging…

  • This dog owner had some treats in her pocket… Tillo wasn't planning on leaving her alone :D

You can see him thinking: "how can she ever resist my wrinkly face?!" :D

Edit: aren't those terriers the cutest thing!!?

  • That is too cute!! Maya is a little piggie, i didnt realise basenji's were so food orientated lol

Are those Cairns?? Lovely little cuties :D

  • My Nicky is the same way at the dog park! Actually all 3 of mine, but she is the most persistant. She will sit so sweetly in front of the person, then if they ignore her she will try and grab their pocket and chew her way to the treat.

  • I guess i'm one of the few that has a Basenji who only eats to live. Kananga has never taken a treat from someone. Even myself, he has to inspect the treat thoroughly (which involves letting it sit on his tongue and spitting it out several times).

Very odd, but he does like to beg when I'm eating MY food. He is very polite about it and knows to back off.

  • Tillo is just like both of ours. Food food treats treats look how cuuuuuuuuute I am!

I get mildly annoyed when someone has treats in the dog park. Mine stop running around, do their prettiest sit and practically bat their eyelashes. NOT what I bring them to the park for!!

..ggg.. Same here! I tell people please NOT to give anything to him.. because he will never leave them alone again..

  • I tell folks that Nicky is the "training tool" for the NO treats in the Park Rule. She is the bad example of why not to bring them there!

  • I hear of folks loosing pockets to b's,when treats are left in clothing.
Guess it can happen when the human is walking upright as well.
    laugh.

I lost two body warmers in a week recently where I had left bribes sorry treats in the pockets, they go in from the sides!!

They can be such embarrassing little piggies at times!!

  • He is just like Moja! She looooooves treats and can do anything to get some. Sometimes it is god, sometimes it is not so god…She is realy fast and sometimes she grabs a finger. I have all my fingers left...yet...

  • Thats excelent. Just wait until he starts robbing people's pockets. Indy has figured out how to get the bag of treats out of peoples pockets when they arent looking.

  • hihihihi He's so cute…

If you like that kind of dog as a Cairn, why not look for such a pup??
they will go great with B's!

I am not in your area, but ... you should know that dog training is about teaching you how to interact with your dog, as opposed to teaching your dog how to do things. Most area Kennel Clubs offer training where you are your dogs partner in the class. The things you will learn will last your lifetime. I applaud the non-punitive approach. A lot of people fly off the handle when their dog chews on the wrong thing, or doesn't quite have potty training down. One of the best things you can do is give them love when they do it right and don't react when they don't. Recognize that he's just a pup. You can trade an acceptable chew toy for your shoes, and you can avoid the problem by closing the closet door so your pup can't get to your shoes. Accidents will happen and learning to potty doesn't happen overnight. Just provide a lot of verbal love when the pup gets it right and don't react when he doesn't. Love and praise are the best tools in your training bag. Congrats on your pup. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!

Lol…we allow it sort of. Indy sits about 6ft from you and just stares. He is a statue. So we ignore him and eat and clean the plates and he gets nothing. I am not really sure what he is thinking...but thats what we do.
