Police dog take down!

Off Topic
  • OMG at the speed and athleticism of thsi dog!

  • It looks like a Belgian Malinois. A lot of security companies are using them instead of Sheperds now. They are smaller, more compact, and even though they are about 40 to 60 Lbs, they can take down much bigger than them. When I was training with a gentleman, a certain police office (220lbs 6' 4") laughed and said the Malinois could never take him down. We sent him out in the arm, and he was stunned at the impact these dogs could have. He was on the ground in a matter of seconds. They instinctively know where to hit you.

  • Amazing. The training and trust that dog must have in his handler to run straight into gun fire….truly amazing.

  • That is amazing! And not only was he powerful enough to knock the guy over, he didn't let go!

  • there's a saying - Malinois, faster than a speeding shepherd.

i love that first little bit with the mali dragging the guy out of the van.

But I've found them to be very loving, especially with my basenjis and really no home should be without one. ;)

  • As a retired peace officer, that dog makes me proud!!!
Love to see a fellow officer in action.

  • That's pretty amazing!

My ex-boyfriend's mom had a Malinois. It's a beautiful breed. They are very athletic & obedient. Two things always needed in good police K-9s :)

LOVED that Sharron! I sent the link on to my sister and threatened that I am going to teach her Chow some of the tricks - I like the one where the two GS walk beside the guys and sit on cue. Hmmm… I might be able to get my cat Barney to do that. He's the one that already shakes a paw for a treat.

I so wish this article would make it on the list of news worthy items to talk about on the news circuit through out the country..at least if it is seen by the millions throughout…maybe we can keep a few elderly dogs out of the shelters and off the streets.. Thank you so much for posting AgileBasenji..it touched me lots.. My two elderly dogs passed away in march and then again exactly one month later to the day..in april..very hard for me and my hubby, but also for our kids..these two dogs had been in our lives since we were dating and they were there when we brought Sofia and Lukas home from the hospital...through illness, happiness and age we have loved, laughed and hugged these two boys...we miss them so much..

Ms. Rita Jean: I have yet to locate the off switch on any Basenji and I've been around them since I was a baby. When you find it, you will let us all know, right?

That is a happy ending! My SIL's boxer ran out the door one Christmas morning at the other SIL's house. We all watched in horror as she dashed into the street and ran INTO an car. She bounced off the passenger door, and seemed completely unphased!
