No Puppies for Tanza

Breeder Talk
  • Seems that Mz Kylie had other plans and never fully came into season, so we will not be having a litter this year….. we are making our plans for next year, or if she decides to come back in season.

Hey, Agilebasenji.... did the "tri-ing" boy have puppies? (OK, not him .. but the bitch he was bred to...;)

  • Oh bummer Pat!! I am sorry it didn't work out…

  • Me too, but lucky that Lisa had a "extra" pup that was not reserved for one of my puppy buyers who would have waited, but really, really wanted on this year… so that worked out great... and even better that they are in So. California and that is were the litter is too with Lisa's Mom....

The rest of the people will wait till we try again...

  • sadly no puppies here either. i know Pat B was really looking forward to having them. as was i.

Well, bummer for both of us!!!!! :(

Did you do a frozen and/or fresh chilled? Or was it a live breeding? Just curious

  • I am very happy that I had a puppy for the family in So Cal. They are visiting the pups this weekend, I can't wait for the pictures of their visit. Mom is keeping it a secret that one of them will be their puppy so it can be a surprise for Christmas.

  • For those who have done Frozen Semen litters, what method of freezing was used and were the litters successful? I have heard of several frozen semen litters that didn't take recently or had only 1 puppy and was wondering if the method of freezing may be a contributing factor. My litter of 4 was from the pellet method.

    I can't wait for pictures either….

  • There are two frozen semen litters this year in sweden(small country) both were inplanted in to the uterus.First litter has been born 2 pup´s and the other dam is carrying atleast 4.They say over here that that´s the surest way to do it.

  • we did live AI at the vet's office the first time; second time Jet was having none of that, but was happy to breed her in my back yard once we got home. can you say "tri-ing"?

  • Oh drats, I'm so sorry guys! I was really looking forward to hearing about those babies. That's great that Lisa had something available for your home.

I sure hope Ms. Boo is preggers, I really want to go play with babies again!

LOL…. you have to give him an "A" for effort...gggg... you know this year was really strange for breeding... some bitches came in really early... some late... and some never fully.... Lisa's bitch, Rio... did the same thing as Kylie... or at least she thinks so...

Me too….. hopefully Ms. Boo is with pups... that should be a great litter from her and Stitch... one of my most favorite Jaadii sons.....

It is not the method of implantation I was wondering about but the method used for freezing. Straw vs Pellet. My litter was surgical implant but so were all the ones I have heard that missed.

  • Sorry it didn't work out for you.
Next yr we will have pup photos to enjoy.

  • Pat, I heard from Linda this weekend and Boo IS preggers! Just thought I would let you know. :) At least 4 pups were seen, but she usually gets a little more than what shows up. One is very small though and probably won't make it. So at least 3 little babies on the way!

And fingers crossed that Kylie cooperates next time for your new plans. :) I'm so happy that Parry will get his Jaadii kids.

@Chealsie508: I am a born skeptic and although I am not a breeder I would feel uncomfortable placing a puppy into a home when you 1: haven't been able to meet them or 2: haven't been "vetted" by someone you know. It is so easy for a breeder to sell a puppy on a spay/ neuter contract but hard to enforce once the puppy leaves you. People can make themselves seem like exactly what you want until they get what they want. I'm also not a breeder, but have friends who are. And I have seen this equation from the other side, twice as a puppy buyer (in both cases I visited, met the parents of the pups, had conversations with the breeders, etc.) and three times adopting older dogs. On one occasion the dog was shipped to me from Washington State…...but that was set up between the breeder in Washington who was looking for a home for a returned dog of hers and a breeder I had previously purchased a pup from, and who went with me to pick up the dog at the airport! I think it is best to have personal contact if you can, but you can get a fairly good "feel" for people by talking to them. Internet may work for an initial connection, but I would want telephone contact at the very least. I agree with Chealsie508 that "People can make themselves seem like exactly what you want until they get what they want." My close friend who breeds Pyrenees has had situations that seemed ideal turn out to be anything but, and on other occasions placements that she was a bit concerned about turned out to be just great. When in doubt, going with your instincts may work, but not always. No guarantees, and it is very difficult to enforce contracts once the dog is out of your hands. Once upon a time I thought I might sell a horse or two. Nope. Couldn't do it. Still got 'em, and they will die here. Glad I never bred my bitch! :)

@Rita: They all are so very cute and I would cry for sure when they left for there new homes. Are you keeping any of them? Rita Jean Oh no :D, we already have 4 Bs at home and I think it is enough for this time. But I'm planning to keep one from upcoming litters :). But of course I would love to keep one of them :D.

It's a step in the right direction. This is a lawmaking function that should be reserved to the states individually, according to the 10th Amendment anyway. Dogs are not livestock and are not going to be used for food. Therefore, USDA does not really have a stake in regulating them. USDA garners its power under the "Regulate Commerce" clause of the Constitution's Preamble, a section that was never intended to carry the weight of law. (See Federalists Paper #41.)

Also, as they are so cat like, folks don't understand their not "listening". So the corrections get harsher and harsher. Sigh. Education is the key for folks…until they do, we will have many dogs in the wrong homes.

Did you confirm pregnancy? You need to get her to a vet. They will probably need to do x-rays and if an ultrasound is available then ultrasound to check heartbeats for fetal distress.
