Buddy Biscuit Sale

  • Don't know if anyone else uses Buddy Biscuits but they are having a great summer clearance sale. It ends tomorrow, August 8, though.

  • Thanks, I will definitely be ordering some.
I don't trust most dog treats and generally use human food as treats, but I love the itty bitty buddy biscuits and their ingredient list.
I also tried the soft and chewy ones recently and they are definitely Pipers favorite. Plus they are just so much healthier than the soft treats sold at grocery stores that I don't mind giving them to her.

I have used Buddy Biscuits… they used to be sold at Trader Joes... however be careful as they do go bad... there is a short shelf life

  • I have been ordering direct from Cloud Star for about 9 months now. I use the buddies for training treats both the soft buddies and the itty bitty buddies work well, both break up easily. I have had no problem with them going bad. Since you are ordering direct from the company they haven't sat on a shelf in a store. Generally, the expiration dates on the boxes I get are about a year after my purchase and I go through them pretty quickly with 4 dogs.

Not sure how Xylitol is being marketed. It is an alcohol found in a lot of plants, including birch wood, which is the source of Xylitol used in medicines. And it is toxic to dogs, even in small amounts. Most of the time you find it in sugarless gum and candy. Here is an FDA warning "Paws Off Xylitol": https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/paws-xylitol-its-dangerous-dogs

Hello, I recommend reading: Early Kidney Disease - Difficulty Getting Her to Eat at https://basenjiforums.com/topic/15616/early-kidney-disease-difficulty-getting-her-to-eat/13 What may guide your path: Kidney values relative to normal. Is there proteinurea? For homemade, read DogAware and accompanying websites. Good luck!

I had a somewhat similar experience. Joey had a seizure which I correlate to taking Simparica. He looked terrible so took him to the vet when the first seizure happened and he was late Stage 2. Put him on Royal Canin kidney kibble and Hills kidney wet food and 4 years later he has only had 1 more seizure and his kidney values have remained constant. I will believe your homemade version is most likely better if you have the correct proportions. All the best to your Bs! Joey will be 15 in November.

I give mine the Mother Hubbard Charcoal treats also… they are black and don't look very appetizing, but I guess they are supposed to help with dental health.
