Anyone have their B laser-neutered?

Basenji Talk
  • And about 100 of that would be for the full blood workup prior to surgery….

  • Hey, so today was the day? How did it go?

  • Yes! I just got home from picking Lenny up. All went well and he is back home recovering. Due to several errors on the part of the staff that was quoting me the prices - I ended up paying $340 instead of $425… so that was a pleasant surprise.

He seems to be doing fine. He's definitely out of it still from the meds, and Tayda is happy to have her buddy back. She's cuddling up to him and letting him lean on her as usual. Its quite cute. Here's some pics of the R & R happening right now....

Thanks to everyone for their concern and support through this. Unfortunately I never got the green light from Lenny's breeder - she basically stopped corresponding with me a few weeks ago and I never heard from her again. Too bad....

  • You have good kids! Those pics are cute :D :D :D…Tayda is being so good to Lenny! Glad to hear it went well (and cost less than you expected) and God speed to Lenny.

That is great that he came through with flying colors… and yes that is a shame that she didn't follow though with you and acknowledge that this was the best for all involved, especially you as the pet owner.... Again, like I said, this is what sometimes gives a breeders a bad rap... IMO.. the home is the most important.. way more the showing and/or breeding. If it was that important then she should have kept him.... hopefully your next experience will be a better one... But.. in the end.. Lenny has a great home and can now go back to the dog park!!!!!

  • still relaxing and cuddling with each other. Tayda has not left his side….

    Sweet photos.
I hope he is feeling better soon.

  • I'm glad everything went well. Tayda is being such a sweetie…what adorable pics.

  • ahhhh, thanks for sharing the pix

  • She's so sweet, watching over and taking care of him.

Over here people aren't even guessing what breed Voodoo might be. The only thing they ask me is if he is a good hunter, what country he came from and what you can hunt with them. That's all they are intrested in, not one has asked what breed he actually is.

Abbey was almost banned from my son's house after she killed the cat's feather on a stick thingy. We don't have our own cat although she'd like to have one of her own. She loves cats!

A coupple of issues in this thread! (Way to multi-task here people!) Treats: the whole "upset tummy" is definately a too much of a good thing issue. Whatever you decide to treat with, make them very small and just watch how much you give. My dogs go nuts for bologna or plain ham. Cheese is the perenial favorite, but never underestimate the power of a "Good Boy!!" Coats & "Cold" Weather: My boys have it rough. Living in the Midwest, it is not uncomming to spend all witner in the single digits (not counting windchill which often kicks us into the negative teens, if not worse). Both boys have dog coats made by Lands End in the same style (and cold weather specifications) as their Squall jacket series. It consists of an easy belly band and front chest closure meathod. No worries about tails or legs. Easy on, easy off. And my boys live in them during the winter. Dogs, just like people, quickly acclimate to the weather. If we deicde it's "Cold" at 50 degrees, they start to feel that way. If we decide 50 is downright balmy, the dogs learn that too. Walking: Oh, the perenial issue of B's! I agree with many of the posters here: it's all in the tone and your attitude. If you decide to be upbeat and positive and decisive, the B will follow! (But probably will quit at mile 6 if he hasn't had his ice cream yet… grin)

I have seen the people who have dogs in the large crates weighed at check in. Only because it was a large carrier. Honestly I would carry her because it gives the appearance that they are lighter then they appear.
