Help w/ Riley's registered name

  • We've had Riley 3 weeks and haven't had a moment to come up with his registered name. I was hoping I could get some help from people on the forum. It will begin "Sulou's" for his breeder and I would love suggestions for a play on words incorporating "tri". I think that "Riley" means courageous, so that could go in there. His call name doesn't have to be in there very obviously or at all. But I like the idea of using the meaning. Not that anyone would catch that, but I like it anyway. I don't think his registered name will be seen very many places unless he grows up to LOVE chasing the bunny like his big sis. But I wanted to try to do something fun and clever with it. Thoughts?

  • Tri-Rageous (as a play on courageous)

  • Solou's Tri'ing Courage

  • I kind of lean towards the obvious…Solou's Life of Riley :D

  • I definitely had to Wikipedia that last one, haha. Thanks for all your help ladies! Much appreciated!

  • Showing your age (YOUNG!) Life of Riley is an expression meaning "living the good life" not necessarily rich, but content.

Anne in Tampa, (whose first name is Riley)

  • I wanted to let you all know what I decided on. It's "Sulou's Tri the Good Life". It took quite the progression to get there. It had to go through "life of riley" to get the "good life" part. It was actually Susan's suggestion and was something I had thought about. And I was able to get "Tri" in there after all. It's kind of appropriate, we're always joking about what a hard life the dogs have, given that they seem to have sleep-a-thons oh, you know, every day!! But I'm pleased with it and couldn't have gotten there without your suggestions so thank you!

@YodelDogs: We have already established that Dexter's "breeder" was disreputable. How many litters did this person have? If she had more than one litter then it is entirely possible that the papers that were supplied with Dexter may not have even been from the litter he was in. Very True Robyn

I used Orijen for a few months. Our boy seemed to like it, but sometimes he would skip a meal. But then we switched to Nature's Variety and he seems to like it even better, hasn't missed a meal in over a year! Both great dog foods though!

LOL when we were getting Sayblee, Leora had me on the net and we came up with 100 potential names. I picked my top ten and she crossed them all off. (she was about 9 at the time) She picked Sayblee. So Sayblee became my dog but I insisted on naming the next one, hence Arwen. But it turned out good since she doesn't yodel, but gives a very clear loud R a lot.

Thank you Tanza. I was very curious. ill have to check out AKC. Thank you AgileBasenji. Yes i do live here so it would just be for fun and for some experience. I dont blame you on the points tho because it would be alot of money to not get anything out of it.

@Andrew: Booger is FINALLY registered with his proper name. We've decided to use "Griffin" in our dogs' names as a reference to the half lion/half eagle mythical creatures. The Egyptians borrowed them from other civilizations & used them in art depicting hunting scenes. So Booger is now "Griffin's Pick of the Litter." Very nice choice…cute name. :)
