    @barklessk9: Zak is also shedding like crazy. :D He always blows his coat in February and occassionally in the summer,but usually not until Sept. I highly recommend the Furminator - it works great! Thank you so much. I bought a Furminator and it works great. I also bought the shampoo and daily spray. I also read an article which advises useing lanolin or a bit of olive oil on the coats of dogs that shed a lot. After several days it is supposed to help with the shedding.

    some raw some dry food a mix of vegetarian formula and sevarl other wiht tuna, chicken carrot,beef turkey…. she chews alot so we give her real bones and assorted edibale chews.. her coat is amazingly smooth and soft and glossy so i dont think she is shedding nails becasue of her diet

    @tanza: And ever notice how they shed just going to the Vet… :( Only my OJ doesn't do that... he likes his Vets...) Nala does too. I end up with a Basenji hair sweater just from holding her in the office and exam room!

    As our Basenjis age we are all confronted with their care… there are tough decisions to be made for sure.. we can all only do what we can to make the remaining time they have with us the best possible.. and not going to extreme measures is many times the most kindest thing we can do... and just make sure they are comfortable .... been there, done that... not easy... but I know that the best care that was in my opinion was given....
