Basenji Showing
  • @myran:

Good luck with Mirtillo he´s a good looking boy:D I´m showing Myran this coming sunday and hoping to get his second CC he won one last month.Little Efia will have her debut in june are you coming to the Basenji Speciality in june??

Good luck with Myran this Sunday!!

We're not coming to the Basenji Speciality this year, because of the strict import rules of Sweden.. (rabies vaccin, we haven't vaccinated Mirtillo yet.. for rabies) and because we were there in February already.

We are planning a trip to Sweden for 2009.

  • @Janneke:

Her first show is in July at Schoningen and is actually the judge who judged Basenjis at Crufts this year so I won't have the language barrier this time;)

I only have until Mid November of showing her across here before we go back to the UK so I will have to try and get her to as many as poss before we go.

Haha, I thought the Germans were pretty good in English :p

Most of the judges do speak English really if they know that you are English;)

I am hoping Kwame will get his title at Dortmund in May if not hopefully he will get it before we leave.

  • Mirtillo and I had our first showtraining yesterday… Haha.. It went... uh.. great.. NOT! He was soooooooo distracted! But we had a lot of fun and I think he will get the idea pretty quickly.

When we got home he was so tired.. he slept like.. a baby :D

    Ah bless him:)

I'm sure he will get the idea. I am having to do the ring training at my puppy socialisation classes aswell as at home as I don't have any ringcraft classes round here:( and she needs to get use to the distractions when moving.
The people there probably think I have lost the plot. She is starting to realise that she has 4 feet not just 2 so is starting to get the idea a bit:rolleyes:

  • Janneke
I will keep you posted how it goes with Hormonal Harry aka Myran ;)

Mirtillo is getting the fact that he has to stand still, but when walking he looks up to me..(puppytraining.. )

  • Hormonal Harry won his class and became 3rd best male with a reserve CC:( It was an ordeal the judge took ages to decide and in the end it was between 3 dog´s.He had us running around the ring over and over again 5 or 6 times I lost count my throat was aching and head was spinning. Then he after he made his pick he came to me and owner of the second runner up and complimented on our dog´s but said that it was us the handlers that had slowed down our dog´s in the end.DUH!!!! well yea after s running 3 laps in my class and almost 6 laps in the best male ring we were pooped I didn´t know you needed to see the condition of the handlers.A finnish breeder told me that he´s known for his marathons and if she would have known that it was him she would have warned me.But it was only the males that got the marathon not the bitches. Then his final comment to me was you have a fantastic dog but you need to get your own condition up or get a handler well yes if i´m to do marathons for him which I don´t i´m quite happy to run 2 or 3 times but more then that is not necessary to see the movements;)

Good to hear HH did well :D
How stupid that the judge made you run like that.. and then comment you on your condition.. Really weird..

  • Janneke
Yes it was a bit odd but other then that he was a nice and very friendly judge his name is Tino Pehar from Kroatia. So if you get him in Holland be prepared to lace up our running shoes :D

@ibi_n_sane: how funny, never heard of that, makes me wonder why they should not need teeth for eating veggies? they need to chew them too right? yeah…that is a load ;) that would mean that cows, horses, gorillas? wouldn't need teeth... I agree that dogs probably shouldn't be penalized for missing an incisor...but does it lead to missing molars (big problem for crunching bones)...and missing canines (big problem for catching prey)? I don't know, because I haven't run across more than one Basenji that was missing an incisor.

LOL, Bryan. I suppose it comes from all those years of my mom telling me, and me telling my kids, that it's not polite to brag! LOL BUT, I really do have a Wall of Jazz in my family room that has a bulletin board with all her ribbons, and the three show 8x10's next to it. So, maybe that's my subtle way of bragging to everyone that enters the room…?
