Know and trust board Miami/Austin?

Basenji Talk
  • I'm thinking of taking a road trip with my fun and friendly 3year old.
I may fly and board him here in Minneapolis, but…
Please let me know if suggestions...
    Thanks.

  • I suppose you don't have any good friends or family that will watch him while you're away? Do you have a Kennelwood Village or anything like that? I've seen alot of boarding places that are actually more like a home away from home. They have more like condo spaces for the dogs with televisions and play time and daily walks. It gets on the expensive side but you'll be more assured that he's happy.

  • If you want to contact me off list I can give you some basenji boarding options in MN should you need them.

If you click on my name and go to my website you can contact me via the email me link.

  • Tell me more about your furbaby personality and how long you will be gone.
There's also the new boarding place at the airport run by the humane society.

@lmerrick such a tough topic. The only person I trust to look after my Basenjis is my sister. I don’t think I would ever consider boarding them with anyone. But, I completely understand how inconvenient that can be. I wish I had an answer but I really don’t

**Rhode Island – 3 Year "Transition Policy" announced by State Vet 2/21/10 New R.I. Rabies Regulations Close to Approval**, Providence Journal 2/21/10 http://www.projo.com/health/content/rabies_vaccinations_02-21-10_QVHH1UG_v13.36f414d.html "New rules, expected to go into effect about March 16, change the mandatory vaccination period from two to three years. In the meantime, the state veterinarian, Dr. Scott Marshall, has created a transitional policy so that pets now protected aren?t reimmunized unnecessarily just because the old regulations have not yet expired. Fostering might get you in to the reality of owning a b. I think going to BRAT and asking to foster would be the way to go. If you like the dog you foster, you can always adopt it.

We always board at the same place. Our dogs tolerate it pretty well. They have indoor/outdoor runs. I prefer that because I would like the dogs to be handled as little as possible. The only one who doesn't do all that well, is Querk. He always loses weight when we are gone, but he still eats his normal amount of food. The owner has to walk him around the property to get him to poop…he will hold it for days if not, and then he explodes, and it is just not good. But each time, he has gotten more comfortable. Ideally, I think we would have someone come and stay with him in the house, and board the girls. With having to keep some of the females separate, I just don't trust anyone else to not mess it up.
