Cyst to be evaluated

    Maybe I'm jumping the gun, since I have not gotten the results back yet, but my 10yr old boy had what we thought was a fatty cyst (2 different vets determined this). He got into a fight with my 8yr old female & this area got infected. Vet proceeded to drain the abcess & removed some of the cyst which he sent to pathology since it was various dark colors of pink/flesh. I saw it in the specimen bottle. He says fatty cysts are usually white so he thinks now it may have been a tumor. He was not able to remove all of it. Does anyone have any experience with dark colored cysts thought to be fatty cysts??

    Poor baby has a 4" incision with drain but he's getting a lot of love from me!

    Had you opened a new bag around the time this started? Sometimes they change ingredients or suppliers of ingredients, which is the way an allergen can sneak in....

    To give you an idea of the contrast between Basenjis and Border Collies, my BC once spit out a pill, I said "Blackie" in a disapproving tone, and he picked it up from the floor and swallowed it!

    My older ones have quite a number of these. I just monitor them and have the vet check them when they are there. None of them have had to be removed. If any of them were at a location where they were bothering the dog, then I would probably have them removed. Jennifer

    diahrea is a common sign. My guys both received oral dewormer meds as a standard Banfield Vet procedure for their wellness plan. This is not uncommon. Caesar was always leash walked as a puppy and he still got it. Dont let your basenji eat grass or drink water off out of anything but your water bowl. I have found that the vaccines for Giardia have never worked for either of my basenjis. It is typical for my guys. I didnt catch it at first because I thought Caesar's diahrea was from the training treats. You are a great basenji mommy for bringing yours in for testing!
