RWF - Loved the humorous spin on your "full moon" story. What a dreadful job it must have been to clean up. Chewing cap off a syrup bottle reminded me of when Daisy chewed a cap off a bottle of dietary supplements. Remember, "Patience is a virtue." is a Basenji blessing.
I am not sure what to attribute it to, but my B used to be just fine let free in my room, but two days ago he went and got my iPod cord off my desk and ate it apart down to the last little wire inside the cord. Now I am going to go back to crating him when I leave my apartment and my roommies can't watch him.
I like to chew when I am bored! The other day I chewed through my Moms cordless phone a/c adapter (again- this is 3…so she went and ordered 2 more) I then chewed the lamp cord (yeah, this is # 2) and I then chewed the cord from her beautiful stainless steel retro looking crosley phone she treated herself to when she bought her house that I am slowly chewing down. This was her wall phone in the kitchen and normally she tucks the cord up on the counter when she leaves, but the kitten helped on this one. It was so pretty and showed my attention to detail the way I chewed apart each little loop. She has no idea what was even on the floor until she saw the big part missing form the cord.
I hemmed her curtain for her the other day and cut a little square out of the blanket on my bed.
I kinda felt bad when she came home and saw how busy I had been in one day. She was almost in tears from a bad day at work anyway and didnt get to appreciate my attempt at redecorating. She is also phoneless now (until parts come in)and couldnt call anyone to vent to. All I know is that she said she was taking me to Grandmas for my own good, she picked me up much later that evening.
Now she chuckles when she leaves for work and tells me to have fun chewing on stuff. All I know is that the curtains, blanket hole, and lamp cord now taste like SH!T :eek: (must be that spray?)
I will just wait to see what the new phone cords taste like when they get here....

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! You must all stop confessing to these alleged transgressions. I've got my mom fully convinced that my human brother is the culprit. I would not stoop so low! She is getting worried (suspicious?) about how that boy likes to tear up kleenex and dryer sheets, though. The torn-up evidence is always found in his room! I'll never tell! She trusts me more than the boy! MWAH-HA-HA!!!

Well, I was getting no attention the other day and Dad forgot about me and left my brother's room door open. He is grown and living away but I do still like to go to his room b/c he doesn't have room in his apartment for all his COOL stuff. He has lots of chewable stuff, and I especially loved his new sheets. They smelled real good, and tasted much better. I had the best chewing time, but Good God Miss Molly, Dad came in and taught me. He said, "Sahara what are you doing, Mommie is going to be soooooooo mad at you". Actually, I think Dad should get in trouble, He knows I like to chew and he left the door open. Besides, where am I going to get money to buy new King size sheets:eek: :eek:. These humans put too much pressure on me, what is a Basenji to do. Queen Sahara

As any good girly girl I love love love shoes! My mom knows this..right mom?! Well dads shoes are the best because they have yummy laces AND they're 100% leather ummm umm. Dad bought new shoes for a wedding this weekend and left them out the closet for ME. I figured he didn't like the laces so I ate them up for him :D...when my mom caught me...she said OH NO TOPAZ :eek: your dad is going to get your teeth removed!!..uh oh! She ran to the store to get the laces to replace them before he noticed. I hope my teeth are safe

As any good Basenji Mom would do, JYS1011 you are surely one of the good ones. I would do the same as Dad always says Sahara is Mom's when I get in trouble, but Daddy's Girl when I am good!!!!! What's with that:eek: :eek: .
Deke here..you guys are crazy. As long as mom closes all room doors, cleans up my human sisters' toys closes the Pantry door, puts up a gate or two, and puts the trash can up ON the counter in the kitchen I'm an angel !!!!!!!!!! Luckily I grew out of the shoe thing she had to hide those for a few years too. I did find my two legged sisters outside…she left them there for me right? It was good. Heres a good one. When I was little mom thought she could get something done if she gated me in the Kitchen. Ha I showed her I POOPed right in her shoe. They taught her not to ignore me.
For some excellent tips all you fur kids out there should have someone read the book "Rou's Tips For Basenjis" to you. Many handy tips from hints on handling toilet paper to - well just about anything a B would like to learn!! Seriously it's a super cute book! I just got it today and it is hilarious!! Well, you guys know about Sahara chewing my new sheets. I was at work 2 days ago when my hubby called and said, "You won't believe what happened to Sahara today"! My heart sank, I said, "Is she Ok, he said kinda", and I replied, "Is she alive, I was so scared"! He went out to get lunch and when he returned Sahara did not greet him as she always does when we leave. He came in and found her in our guest room trying to pull out a piece of sheet from her U know what, (anus)! He said, "I had to pull it out myself and I think she still has a piece I couldn't reach still in there"! He said, he left for work and when I come home I need to check her out. Of course I will check things out, are you kidding. She is my Baby Girl, on the way home from work I called my vet and told her the situation. She said, Bring her right in! We were there for about an hour. No problem with her, no fever, no sheet, nothing. So Sahara is fine, wonder if she will eat sheets again, :eek: :eek: Probably
That is super scary! Luckily she didn't have a serious blockage from that. I have a friend whose golden retriever did the same thing only there was no evidence that he had eaten part of a sheet. He hadn't been feeling well for a day and the vet had told them just give him the bland diet. Anyway, the next morning, we're all having breakfast, and I say to my friend, "hey, what does Chance have coming out of his butt…". George says he thinks he just has something wrapped in his tail...wrong. Goes over and pulls it out of his butt...must have been at least 3ft of sheet. :eek: Needless to say, Chance went to the vet again!
BTW, I've since heard that you aren't actually supposed to pull it out as it could be actually wrapped around the intestine. I guess the dog should go to the vet for an xray first..don't know if that is true.
