Geeze, the list goes on. He actually comes home and announces that he's thought of her ALL DAY and tells her the new name he's come up with. Talk about feeling left out!

  • Does "That Damned Dog!!" count as a nickname? LOL

It is usually exclaimed by Dh after Keoki has stolen someone's food from the dinner table.

    LOL

  • Funny. My DH has the same nickname for Nala! LOL! Also, "PITA"!!

  • Love it. Yeah, I'm sure if Dh had thought it through he'd have named Keoki 'PITA' instead.

He's {dh} is so funny –in that irritating way -- in that he keeps insisting that "Jazz didn't do this" -- or didn't do it this long, or learned this faster, etc.
Honestly, did he live in the same house when Jazz was a puppy? Sure, she's always been very good, esp for a Basenji, but does he not remember the stolen food? The torn to bits Santa Clause, the slippers I used to own, the neighbor girls' flip-flop? Come on!!! Keoki is only six months old; of course he is a PITA; it's his job! LOL

  • Hee Hee…tell him that Keoki will be fine, just like Jazzy is! Don't tell him that Nala is going to be 9 in December....LOL! We've just given up on trying to stop the food snatching!! At least it's taught the kids to not leave the table (with food they still want on it) and to clean up their plates afterwards!! Ah, the benefits of a poorly trained dog!! ((wink wink))

  • I'll chime in on the nickname thread. Ziggy gets called "Zig" and "Zig Newton." And the B-girl named Kudos I had many years ago? Her nickname spoke to the pesky, mischievous, "nope, it wasn't me that tore your pillow/newspaper/shoe/laundry to shreds" antics of the Basenji. I called her Shiva the Destroyer.

  • Yes, we have 9… yes, we're a bit crazy...
But it just seems to happen. Tex was from our first (co-bred) litter, we kept him and his sister. Fiber and Lela are his children, both are at least carriers for Fanconi as their dam had it, so we kept them to keep a close eye on them. (our daughter has one of the others, and friends in AZ have the other 2) Kate was our 'lease fee' when another friend leased Tex's sister BG. Amina was the only puppy to survive from BG's second litter. BG developed Fanconi and we lost her last year. When we bred the litter that Dude and Arrow were in, we were only keeping one, but my husband fell for Dude, the only red and the only male. Same thing with Dinger and Kivu, I had Kivu picked out, but my husband said, "Oh, but look at him! We can't turn down that face!!" so we had two... They are Tex's grandsons.
