Nice win for you and Shaun. I enjoyed watching him move around the ring.
3pt Major in Va.

WooHoo… way to go!!!

Thanks All.
I think he has 8 or 9 Lisa.
I feel so bad for Willy….......he's still stuck on 2.:( I do remember what you told me about how long it takes some.....so I still have hope. It's just a little frustrating.:(
They can't seem to buy a break with him, or his brother Baxter.
My Son and I want to try him on Lure coursing, he showed some real promise during a trail run and it looked like a lot of fun as well.
Jasper ran out there and stopped........where did everyone go??? I don't think it's his calling.:D
-
Jasper's half way there, YAY Jasper!
And don't lose hope for Willy. Some dogs are slow to mature and some just take longer. I have two that I swear if they could buy a bumper sticker it would be "I'd Rather Be Lure Coursing"

Congrats on Jasper's win! he's moving right along. And don't worry about Willy. I'm still his Number 1 fan.

I think Willy would be, he really like it.

Thanks…..we'll keep plugging along with him. I'd hate to see people giving up on B/W's because they're hard to finish..........we'd all lose IMO.
I think the B/W's are flashy and very elegant!
-
Congrats to all! Maybe Willy has a different calling! Let us know how that works out!
-
Major contrats again . . . Go Jasper!

Years ago when I started showing Mickii (Tri) I was the "odd" color out in a sea of reds… many times I might as well been standing on the freeway waiting for a bus...
But she finished.....
Of course it is funny out here now, with all the Tris showing, throw in a couple of Black and Whites and a Brindle every now and again.. and the Reds are totally out numbered....

I like that thinking, good call.:D
-
Congrats!
And…
Oh I know the feeling...that sinking feeling "why am I even bothering with my babies if they won't even see past the color"
That's where I got the nasty joke, we have an African breed, and they come in black...the judges are prejudiced against the black most of the time...and that's when I say to my non-show friends..."Damn racist judges!!!!"
Then we all laugh and I get over it quickly, go home and enter my two in another show.

That's good….....:D
Keep showing them, that's the spirit! The National Specialty's wouldn't be much fun without all of the colors.......we will never give up on b/w's!:D
Are these the beginnings of a B/W support group????:D
You Ladies are great........thanks! -
I own two black and white Dual Champions and am currently showing my half Avongara black and white. Though I have shown to judges with an obvious color bias, I have not found them to be in the majority. In fact, I would say judges have had a harder time seeing past Sophie's loose curled tail than her color. I have also found that a dog's attitude in the show ring makes a huge difference in how the judge views the dog. Nicky was often ho-hum in the ring with me, but with Pat he just shines. That is why as long as she is willing he goes in the ring with her and it makes his day to do so. There is just so much that goes into whether a dog wins on any given day.

I certainly know about the half Af b/w non curly tail.:D
I know there's more to it than color, it's just when they pick by color and it's obvious it's frustrating.
-
I know and I have been there but more judges are looking past color or maybe it is just that at least here we have more color in the ring.

I'm not sure Willy has ever competed against another B/W Basenji that wasn't his brother…....except the National. Maybe we are color deprived here in the east, I really don't know.
My Son and I are ready to try Lure Coursing Willy, I can't imagine color would enter into that......can it????

It should not but the dark dogs to heat up more in the sun than the red dogs. It is important to keep them cool when it is hot. Rally will hop right into the wading pool at a lure trial when I ask her to.

As hot as it was in Va over the weekend, they had wading pools all around for the dogs. We haven't been able to get any of our crew in a wading pool yet. Maybe after running like they do at a coursing event would change all that.:D
We plan to start the coursing closer to the fall months…..it's so hot now and he's off at a conformation show most weekends.
