Morning antics before work

Basenji Talk
  • As much as I love my little boys, there are those times that I would like to pull my hair out.

This frustrating time typically is in the moments before I run out of the house for work.

I kennel the boys when I dont take them to work with me.

Well, Caesar has been trained by himself to run under the dining table at the momen he hears the beep of the TV turn off or based on the time I leave in the morning.

He moves around under the table so that I can't reach him and I get really MAD.

Anyone else have those moments where you want to scream? Just Friday I guess, I would rather be at the beach right now!

  • Yes when I've noticed Champ has one of my shoes, clothes, etc and I have to chase him around the table and then he makes a break for it under the bed and I hear him tearing whatever he has apart. If I get desperate I take out the treats and bribe the little brat to drop whatever he has.

  • I feel for you.

I can't talk on the phone with them around, they hate it when I use the phone. They always act up. They are like 2yr olds who never grow up.

  • Yes he is an attentionaddict. If I'm trying to exercise he either scratches my head, pulls my hair or trys to lay right on my mat and gets in my way. When my daughter tries doing her homework on the sofa, he'll pull on her books, bite the pages, corners, or paws at them to knock them down.

LOL on the entire repertoire. That was my chow/coyote. I would just wait til she stopped and give THE command (or give it again if she started AFTER I had given it.. but most of the time she started the second she knew I had a treat) when she was ready to listen. But it was cute.

Forget the tomato juice, it just turns the white pink and it still smells. The dish soap/peroxide/baking soda works the best but it will still be a day or two until the smell is gone -more if the spray was heavy. Our kids used to get fairly regularly skunked because the skunks would come up to the fence at night and the Bs couldn't resist poking their paws through at the skunks!! Fortunately, we actually seem to have fewer skunks here in TX than we did in CA - or at least there's more 'wild' area so they don't come to the yard as much. Terry

Mosly Indy and Lori just work together to get in trouble. They have figured out how to get the roll of toilet paper off the holder. Indy will grab the holder and lori the toilet paper and run in opposite directions. Good thing they are only about $1.50 to replace or I would have a pair of basenji skin boots!
  • So much fun to work with them

@Janneke: :D :D Tillo loves to practise.. favorite trick: Kiss :D And it all has to go in a hurry.. because he doesn't like to stand still and wait.. or the 'wait' has to be a commant  An idea for Buana.. Let him sit and stay.. walk away.. call him to come and while he is comming, tell him to wait. He has to stop walking and sit or lay down. We are training this with Tillo and he's pretty good at it :D Yeahh Kis buana can do also… A very good idea to tell him wait when he already is on his way to me!!!! I'm going to practise!!!:D

When I got each of my b's I brought them into my office as little babies - I didn't want to leave them home alone when they had just been through such a big change (they are a year apart - each one came into my office for about the first 4 weeks after they came to live with me). They were so easy then because they slept so much. Although they are very different personalities, they are basically the same in my office. Sweet and sleepy as babies, total nuts as adults. I bring one or the other in occasionally and can't leave either one off-leash. They hit every garbage can in the place, and would run out the front door (and have) when anyone comes in. Too curious. All they want to do is walk down Main Street and smell all the other doggie smells, so there is lots of whining and boredom on their part, but they are welcome as long as they don't do anything destructive. (My boss has actually put up with a fair amout of that from other dogs in the office). So I do have a dog-friendly office, it's just that my dogs are not easy in the office.
