Thanks everyone for your advice.
I know my basenji understands and he does listen to me but he has selective hearing. We are traning on it and he is getting better each day.
Check out my friend Susan's site. http://www.apubasenjis.com/LureCoursingBasenjis.html
She's been a Basenji breeder since 1973. She's in Woodstock, NY
Susan has some great photos of her dogs lure coursing. I love lure coursing photos. I just uploaded three new ones to my gallery, http://www.basenjiforums.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=11

Those are some really nice shots!! Thanks for sharing.
Wow what great looking dogs. Looks like they course in NJ…do they??
That lure coursing looks like sooo much fun. I would love to get Hollie involved, but would have to drive 2 hours one way to reach the close participants in my state. I have thought about resorting to a fishing pole with something attached to the end of the pole.
Get a lunge whip and tie an old plastic grocery bag – pref. white -- on the end and go for it! Be ready to move . . FAST!!!
where heck do you get a lunge whip?? I don't think I've ever heard of this…pardon this city girl's ignorance

It is a "horse" item, if you have a tack store (store for the "horsey set" you can find one there….
Aha I see…we don't see many horses around her but there should be somewhere that sells that kinda stuff. Thanks!

Should be easy to google and find on line, try that
If you scroll down to the bottom of this webpage they have one.
Looks like a large version of a cat toy.
I started with a cat toy with a pl bag tied on the end to see if they would be interested before i went any further. The I used an old fishing rod with rope tied from there. Kind of worked the same as a lunge whip. (I'm too cheap to buy one if I don't absolutely need one)
