Same thing applies over here. No more puppies now until winter 2021 breeding season. If you email me privately, addresses are in the websites on my signature block, I will send you a list of breed club secretaries. Tested parents will appear on the OFA websites @tanza told you about. We use OFA to test our dogs too.
Patience is now the name of the game, but you should be able to get onto a breeders list for a puppy early 2022, February or March
Craigslist Posting Found - Florida - 4 Month old Puppy
-
The colour is one often registered by a particular breeder who AKC registers the animals to be bred from. The price is outrageous !
-
@zande I'm guessing that breeder doesn't have a clause to return the pup in cases like this? Are they Florida based? Gorgeous color in deed, but yes that price
-
They couldn't have had that pup for more than 1-2 months. I hope the pup goes to a more dedicated home!
-
Outrageous! That price is way over the top..... I can most likely guess where that pup came from and I would be very, very surprised if this person paid that much money for this puppy to begin with....
-
@jeimygirl My geography is appalling. I have no idea where they are but the breeder I am thinking of is unlikely to take it back.
-
@tanza Out to make a quick buck ?
-
@zande - Exactly Zande.... And the poster looks to be from Florida.
-
Out of interest, who is the breeder?
-
@scagnetti - no ones knows....
-
The price is absurd.

I looked at the ad again this morning. Very disappointing. Bad monkey. If this owner needs to step away from this puppy they should be contacting the breeder they got the pup from. Not reselling it on Craigslist. Iād be furious if this was one of my pups. Everyone should āFlagā this ad.
-
@jengosmonkey some breeders give no support and no back up to new owners. And they refuse to take back any puppies they have clearly sold to homes where no Basenji should ever have been placed.
Potential owners are not vetted, parents are not identified and seldom are health tests done.
Owners pay their money over, collect their puppy and are on their own.
We call these people puppy farmers. You call them puppy mills. I think @tanza and I both have a suspicion as to where this pup originated. I doubt the owner paid anything like 4000 for it, so he or she is not much better. Trying to make a profit instead of finding a loving home for the wee animal.
-
@zande and Jengosmonkey... I did send an email and asked about this pup, never got a response... most likely because I asked about health testing and pedigree... or that they did sell the pup. And Zande, you are correct.... across the pond, they are called puppy farmers...here puppy mills and/or back yard breeders (in it for the money)
