    @matt_dl That is good to hear ! I think there are puppies in the North of UK. The demand last year meant some people bred imported dogs to get on the band wagon, maybe. Anyway there are many first time breeders with possible un-health tested breeding pairs. Do make sure the parents are health test by OFA for Fanconi and PRA at the very least. And that they are registered with our Kennel Club.

    @rjbasenji - this is the time to align with a responsible breeder for a pup maybe in 2021. Because Basenjis only come in season once a year and their litter size is only 4-6 puppies, it is difficult to find one especially will all the people that "want" one... If you can visit with a breeder that would help you or if not call them on the phone and tell them why you think that a Basenji would be a good fit for your family/lifestyle.

    @debradownsouth He was Arrested and then he died. I will refrain from posting Horse related posts. You just did not believe me when I said Horses are taken to Great Adventure. Now regarding the Basenjis relation to Wolves: Mu dog loved the Wolves and when I would walk the Wolf and the Dog in the Park the Dogs there which included Rotties, Saint Bernards, Bull Mastiffs all pulled their owner out of the Park because Dogs instinctively fear Wolves. Thannks!

    Yes i have been very interested for a long time. Iv been in contact with a Breeder from England for a while now and they are expecting a summer litter. While iv been speaking to the breeder i feel comfortable that she will be more than helpful and is willing to all of the above. Like you said the price was the last thing on your mind, this goes for me too. I was just wondering along the lines so i could save to buy my puppy. Thanks for the help :)

    @bellabasenji: It all boils down to what is better for the (so called)"breeders" wallets!!!:mad: UUuuughā€¦ BYB's & millers!!!:mad: That is true, a pure for profit breeder is not going to spend money on health testing that is going to cut into their bottom line. They will do as little testing as they can do and still sell puppies. Educating as many people as possible to demand health testing for both parents is the best thing that we can do for the breed. There will always be some who want a puppy "right now" and won't care but the more people we can educate the smaller the market for puppy mill dogs because really most people do want to do the right thing and want a healthy puppy that will be a long lived companion.
