I don't know anything about this vet, but will he not work with you on payment? Many vets will treat dogs in urgent need on a payment plan or for a discounted rate. The vet does have some money upfront. Perhaps you could work out some sort of payment schedule for the balance or put part of the bill on a credit card, so the surgery can be done? If not, maybe another vet could be more flexible. Leaving the dog at the facility on IVs seems like it might make the bill larger and prolong the dog's discomfort or pain. You're in a hard spot, and I wish both you and your poor dog the best.
Luna needs a home!

Hi. I'm new to basenji forums. I'm hoping someone can help. My wife and I are fostering a 2 yo female basenji mix because its owner, a close friend, passed away. Luna is a sweet dog but she is not a good fit for our family. She is super energetic and needs more attention than we can give her. Both my wife and I work long hours and just can't make the time to give her the exercise she needs. We hope to find a good home with people that can play catch with her, take her on long walks and love her like her previous owner did.
We are located in Arcadia, California, just east of Pasadena. If anyone is interested please email or call.
Thanks,
Anthony Chicca

I am sorry about the loss of your friend.
Be careful in placing her, do vet referenced, home visit and meet their other pets and children. Aiso, get a notarized statement that if thing dog doesn't work out, it is returned to you or placed only with your approval and similar contract.
