    While I applaud you for wanting to rescue this little Basenji, they are not doghouse kind of dogs. They want to be with their human pack as much as possible, and keep in mind that just because they are an African breed, this little girl may have been out of Africa's climate for many generations and may not fare well in intense heat. My black and white girl does not do well in our FLorida heat for example. She prefers the air-conditioned sun she lies in inside the house. Basenjis are escape artists as well, and she may be able to get out of your yard. If you cannot keep this self-cleaning, low shedding dog in the house with you and you cannot locate the owner, Then Basenji Rescue and Transport is a good place to turn to find to find this little girl a loving home with Basenji saavy fosters and adopters.     My girl does most of the above listed things except that she does neck grab other dogs, but when she once caught and killed a squirrel, she grabbed and shook it, killing it immediately. Thereafter she was not at all interested in the prey and walked off. Another dog, a labradoodle, went over to grab the squirrel and started playing all over the field with it till its owner got it away from him. Shaye had no interest at all in this exchange because she did what she set out to do - catch and kill.

    I could list a whole lot of things but the snuggling under the covers is the sweetest. That's when I love her most. One thing I'm really really thankful for now that Abbey's 7 is that she no longer explodes out of the covers at 2 am when a helicopter flies over. Gotta love her for that. Took 7 years but my girl has finally grown up!

    :D :D :D Just went though this with EL D – especially the part about snuffling through the dirt pile I was just getting ready to sweep into the garbage. Then there's the "hey wait, don't throw that away, I still want it" part where he drags something disgusting out of the garbage before I can get it out the door. And vacuuming -- ha -- it's "let's play chicken with this beast" (luckily EL D never goes after the cords) and almost knocking stuff over trying not to get hit. :D :D :D

    Joey's breeder is Eric Williams in Michigan. I just met Joey's great aunt who is so precious! She is 4 and a tri. Eric is dogsitting Joey for a few days over the holiday and even tho I miss Joey so much already (I dropped him off at noon), I know he is in good hands! I hope Joey will want to return home!!!
