Is Your Veterinarian Being Honest w/You–ABC News

  • Definitely inform yourself re vaccines and find a Vet you can trust, know with my previous dog he was getting vaccines I didn't want him to have and had previously asked not to have, trust my older Vet but not the junior vet that works at the practice who is pushy and gives the I know better talk about your pets health re vaccines and raw food. Happy with having Kaiser titre tested and can't wait till cat can also have his done.

    Jolanda and Kaiser

    I agree wholeheartedly!!

  • I asked my last vet, before I found a different one, how much a titer would cost and they had no idea what I was talking about….and then I tried to describe it to the staff and they proceeded to give me quotes on full blood-work.

If anyone knows of a decent vet here in Anchorage, let me know.

See if you can find one near you at these links: American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association http://www.holisticvetlist.com/, Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy http://www.theavh.org/referral/index.php

  • Thanks for the resource, but Alaska tends to be underrepresented in search engines like that; I rarely come up with any results.

But, actually, just kind of a funny side note… I typed in "holistic vet Anchorage" into the Google search engine and the vet I was talking about above popped up as the first result. But, did find one or two at the bottom of the results list that seemed maybe legitimate. So I appreciate the idea.

I hope you can manage to find a homeopathic/holistic veterinarian somewhere that seems to be a good fit for you.

  • Any vet who is not aware of the guidelines and titres isn't one who stays informed enough to be my vet. Any vet who PRETENDS they don't know and tries to push unnecessary vaccine– ditto.

Thanks for the post, will share in other dog groups.

  • Okay I watched it… have to say even though I love Dr Marty, I think he is absolutely wrong about yearly teeth cleaning. Research upon research shows dogs over even 3 have issues. A yearly cleaning is not, imho, excessive if the dog shows any tartar build up.

  • First Basenji's

just one reason why I switched to raw, even only after 3 weeks, my 12 and 11 y/o are looking and feeling better! Teeth are cleaner too!
